Almost disjoint spanning trees: relaxing the conditions for completely independent spanning trees
2017
International audience; The search of spanning trees with interesting disjunction properties has led to the introduction of edge-disjoint spanning trees, independent spanning trees and more recently completely independent spanning trees. We group together these notions by dening (i, j)-disjoint spanning trees, where i (j, respectively) is the number of vertices (edges, respectively) that are shared by more than one tree. We illustrate how (i, j)-disjoint spanning trees provide some nuances between the existence of disjoint connected dominating sets and completely independent spanning trees. We prove that determining if there exist two (i, j)-disjoint spanning trees in a graph G is NP-comple…
Laplacian versus Adjacency Matrix in Quantum Walk Search
2015
A quantum particle evolving by Schr\"odinger's equation contains, from the kinetic energy of the particle, a term in its Hamiltonian proportional to Laplace's operator. In discrete space, this is replaced by the discrete or graph Laplacian, which gives rise to a continuous-time quantum walk. Besides this natural definition, some quantum walk algorithms instead use the adjacency matrix to effect the walk. While this is equivalent to the Laplacian for regular graphs, it is different for non-regular graphs, and is thus an inequivalent quantum walk. We algorithmically explore this distinction by analyzing search on the complete bipartite graph with multiple marked vertices, using both the Lapla…
Scattering theory for a class of fermionic Pauli–Fierz models
2004
Abstract The scattering theory for a class of fermionic Pauli–Fierz models is considered. We give a proof of the asymptotic completeness of the dynamics in the case of massive fermions. The result applied to the Hamiltonian of a quantized spin- 1 2 Dirac particle interacting with an external field through a cutoff Yukawa interaction and to the Hamiltonian of a system of finitely many confined particles coupled to a fermionic field with a quadratic interaction.
Presentación del Monográfico: una mirada a la emigración española cualificada reciente: Estado de la cuestión y enfoques teóricos
2018
The study of qualified emigration has returned to the political and scientific agendas in recent decades. Currently the theoretical approaches have changed from a completely renewed economic, political, social and technological context. This article presents a summary of these new approaches and a current overview of skilled migration of Spaniards, based on a review of the specialized literature.
Nonlinear psi-quasi-contractions of Ciric-type in partial metric spaces
2012
In this paper we obtain results of fixed and common fixed points for self-mappings satisfying a nonlinear contractive condition of Ciric-type in the framework of partial metric spaces. We also prove results of fixed point for self-mappings satisfying an ordered nonlinear contractive condition in the setting of ordered partial metric spaces.
Complete Genome Sequence of Fish Pathogen Flavobacterium columnare Strain B185, Originating from Finland
2019
We report a complete genome sequence of a Finnish isolate of the fish pathogen Flavobacterium columnare. Using PacBio RS II sequencing technology, the complete circular genome of F. columnare strain B185 with 3,261,404 bp was obtained.
Particle size distribution and biomass growth in a submerged membrane bioreactor
2006
Submerged membrane bioreactors (MBR)associate in a single treatment unit a process ofbiological treatment and a phase of solid/liquidseparation by membrane filtration. Due to reduced membrane porosity, suspendedsolids and large amount of bacteria and virusesmay be retained in the reactor; consequently, highbiomass concentration is generally established inthe system. Indeed, this latter circumstance leadsto obtain a system able to operate with a low F/Mand high SRT and hence, as a result, a low sludgeproduction. In technical literature, the definition of fou-lants in MBR systems is a controversial task.More specifically, the influence of TSS onmixed liquor filterability has not been yet full…
Investigating Limits in Exploiting Assembled Landslide Inventories for Calibrating Regional Susceptibility Models: A Test in Volcanic Areas of El Sal…
2022
This research is focused on the evaluation of the reliability of regional landslide susceptibility models obtained by exploiting inhomogeneous (for quality, resolution and/or triggering related type and intensity) collected inventories for calibration. At a large-scale glance, merging more inventories can result in well-performing models hiding potential strong predictive deficiencies. An example of the limits that such kinds of models can display is given by a landslide susceptibility study, which was carried out for a large sector of the coastal area of El Salvador, where an apparently well-performing regional model (AUC = 0.87) was obtained by regressing a dataset through multivariate ad…
Exploring the generative power of performance measurement systems design
2019
Abstract Prior studies recognise the enabling power of incompleteness in the design of Performance Measurement Systems (PMS). We add to these studies by exploring the ‘time dimension’ of incompleteness as a way to delve into the generative power of design. To this aim, we rely upon the experience of a knowledge-intensive organization during the design of a new PMS. While knowledge complexity engaged the participants within an open-ended design process, incomplete measures were associated with unfolding memories of the past and confident beliefs in future solutions, which generated effects through the knowledge gaps that they entailed, as well as through the projections in the past and in th…
Estimation of formamide harmonic and anharmonic modes in the Kohn-Sham limit using the polarization consistent basis sets.
2010
Formamide harmonic and anharmonic frequencies of fundamental vibrations in the gas phase and in several solvents were successfully estimated in the B3LYP Kohn-Sham complete basis set limit (KS CBS). CBS results were obtained by extrapolating a power function (two-parameter formula) to the results calculated with polarization-consistent basis sets. Anharmonic corrections using the second order perturbation treatment (PT2) and hybrid B3LYP functional combined with polarization consistent pc-n (n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4) and several Pople’s basis sets were analyzed for all fundamental formamide vibrational modes in the gas phase and solution. Solvent effects were modeled within a PCM method. The anhar…
