The influence of inherent tire char ash during co-gasification with coconut hydrochar prepared at different intensities was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis to ascertain the extent to which synergistic interaction, reactivity, and activation energy reduction were altered. High-ash tire tread (TT) and low-ash sidewall (SW) both exhibited enhanced synergy, reactivity, and activation reduction upon co-gasification with hydrochars; however, the extent of promotion was more pronounced in SW-hydrochar blends. During processing of gari from cassava tuber large volume of effluents are discharged in the environment which is toxic to the environment and some of its associated biota. This study evaluated the growth pattern of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in cassava mill effluents. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae was isolated from palm wine following standard microbiological procedure. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae was inoculated into the sterile effluents and incubated for 15 days. Two year old brown trout (Salmo trutta L.) were exposed for 7 days to pH 4.7 alone and with aluminium at concentrations of 0.28 and 0.45 mg l−1, respectively, in the water of River Rutajoki, Central Finland. The labile aluminium accounted for less than 30% of the total added amount in the humic water. During the exposures the fish were monitored by a non-contact bioelectronic monitoring system which records heart and ventilation rates of the fish. Terminal blood samples were obtained to evaluate the degree of stress. No mortality occurred during any of the exposures. Influence of K on the transport of Cs-137 in soil–plant root and root-leaf systems in sugar beet

The main aim of this study was to determine the influence of K-40 activity in the soil on the transport of Cs-137 from the soil to plants and the impact of its activity on the internal transport of Cs-137 between anatomical parts of the sugar beet. The activity concentration of Cs-137 in the soil was bigger than that in the beet. The highest activity concentration of K-40 was observed in beet leaves, while its content in roots and the soil were comparable.

Recent efforts towards the development of synthetic glycopeptide vaccines, which aim at the active immunization of patients against their own tumor tissues, are outlined. To achieve sufficient tumor selectivity, glycopeptides of the tandem repeat region of tumor-associated mucin, MUC1, have been synthesized. Since the endogenous structures usually exert low immunogenicity, these glycopeptide antigens, as B-cell epitopes, were conjugated with immunostimulating components.
