Effect of hydrothermal time on the forming specific morphology of YPO4:Eu3+ nanoparticles for dedicated luminescent applications as optical markers

A way to control the desired shape and microstructure of YPO4:Eu3+ nanoparticles through the precipitation method followed by a hydrothermal treatment is reported. This method is useful for achieving very high control over the YPO4:Eu3+ formation process with the selection of appropriate synthesis parameters. In detail, the autoclave processing time allows control of the shape and size of nano-needle-shaped particles independently in both directions, as confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction, FT-IR Spectroscopy and Electron Transmission Microscopy. Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) hollow microcavities turn out to be the site of an extremely rich and complex phenomenological scenario when pumped with a continuous-wave laser source. The coexistence of numerous non-linear and optomechanical effects have been reviewed in this paper. In our previous works we have investigated and described non-linear emissions as the stimulated Brillouin and Raman scattering, the degenerated and non-degenerated Kerr effects, such as four wave mixing (FWM). Lysosomal degradation of the carboxydextran shell of coated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and the fate of professional phagocytes

Contrast agents based on dextran-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIO) are internalized by professional phagocytes such as hepatic Kupffer cells, yet their role in phagocyte biology remains largely unknown. Here we investigated the effects of the SPIO ferucarbotran on murine Kupffer cells and human macrophages. Intravenous injection of ferucarbotran into mice led to rapid accumulation of the particles in phagocytes and to long-lasting increased iron deposition in liver and kidneys. Bonding to silicate ceramics : conventional technique compared with a simplified technique

Background Silicate ceramic bonding is carried out by acid-etching with hydrofluoric acid (HF) followed by an application of silane. By replacing HF with ammonium polyfluoride, contained in the same flask as the silane, the number of steps in this clinical procedure, can be reduced, while maintaining bond strength values, and reducing toxicity. Background This study evaluated the effect of ceramic surface treatments on bond strength of ceramic brackets to machine-able ceramics and ceramic veneering metal.
