Carboxylation of a linear low density polyethylene via gamma irradiation in presence of carbon dioxide in subcritical and supercritical conditions

1994

Abstract In this work the molecular modifications induced in a linear low density polyethylene gamma irradiated in presence of carbon dioxide both in subcritical and supercritical conditions are presented. The obtained results indicate that this process can be a new and interesting way in order to graft oxidized groups in the polyethylene chains. Moreover it is worth noting that, together with these functionalization reactions, also a significant crosslinking occurs, with improvement in some mechanical tensile behaviour.

2003

The enantiodiscriminating polymerization of racemic cyclodextrin-complexed N-methacryloylphenylalanine methyl ester is investigated 1 H NMR spectra of the complexes with methylated β-cyclodextrin in D 2 O manifest splittings due to chiral recognition. The different stabilities of the diastereomeric complexes influence the kinetics of the homopolymerization, particularly at 0°C. An enrichment of the residual N-methacryloyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester of 14% was achieved after 21 h of polymerization.

Rapid characterization of alkylpolyphosphonates by CZE with indirect photometric and mass spectrometric detection.

2006

Methods for the rapid characterization of industrial alkylpolyphosphonates (APPs) by infusion MS and CZE with indirect photometric (IPD) and MS detection are described. Technical-grade APPs, including alkylaminepolyphosphonates with 3-5 phosphonate groups and different hydrocarbon skeletons, hydroxyethyl-amino-bis(methylenephosphonic acid), hydroxyethylidene-diphosphonic acid, and 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid, were examined. A 10 mM solution of adenosine triphosphate disodium salt at pH 2.2 was used as BGE. The nominal compounds of the industrial APPs and their impurities were well resolved in less than 15 min. The peaks were identified by using extracted ion electropherograms…

The First Examples of a Crown Ether Intramolecularly Encapsulating Mono- and Diorganotin Dications: Synthesis and Structures of [PhSnCH2([16]crown-5)…

2010

The reaction of silver perchlorate with [PhI 2 SnCH 2 ([16]crown-5)] (1) and [I 3 SnCH 2 ([16]crown-5)] (2) gave the organotin(IV)-substituted crown ether complexes [PhSnCH 2 ([16]crown-5)][ClO 4 ] 2 (3) and [HOSnCH 2 ([16]crown-5)][Y] 2 (4: Y= ClO 4 , 5: Y=CF3 S 03 ) , respectively. All compounds have been isolated as air-stable materials and characterised by 1 H, 13 C, 119 Sn and 119 Sn MAS (5) NMR spectroscopy, ESIMS spectrometry, elemental analysis and by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The molecular structures of 3-5 show that the tin(IV) cation fits perfectly into the crown ether cavity and is coordinated by the five oxygen atoms of the ring to give a pentagonal bipyramidal…

Structure and Conformational Studies of Aza-Crown 8-Amino-BODIPY Derivatives: Influence of Steric Hindrance on Their Photophysical Properties

2017

Herein, we report the synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and photophysical studies of six new 8-amino-BODIPY derivatives containing crown or azo-crown ether moieties. The influence of steric hindrance, caused by the crown ether, on the planarity of the BODIPY core and its relationship with the fluorescent properties has been established. 1H NMR spectroscopic studies were undertaken to clarify the changes in fluorescence observed in the presence of ZnII.

Mechanism of the Oxidation of Sulfides by Dioxiranes. 1. Intermediacy of a 10-S-4 Hypervalent Sulfur Adduct

2002

Earlier studies established that dimethyldioxirane (1a) reacts with sulfides 2 in two consecutive concerted electrophilic oxygen-transfer steps to give first sulfoxides 3 and then sulfones 4. The same sequential electrophilic oxidation model was assumed for the reaction of sulfides 2 with the strongly electrophilic methyl(trifluoromethyl)dioxirane (1b). In this paper we report on a systematic and general study on the mechanism of the reaction of simple sulfides 2 with DMDO (1a) and TFDO (1b) which provides clear evidence for the involvement of hypervalent sulfur species in the oxidation process. In the oxidation of sulfides 2a-c, diphenyl sulfide (2d), para-substituted aryl methyl sulfides …

Oxidation of alcohols to carbonyl compounds with CrO3.SiO2 in supercritical carbon dioxide.

2006

Supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) is an effective reaction medium to perform the oxidation of primary and secondary aliphatic alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds with chromium trioxide supported on silica. These reactions were performed by flowing a solution of the alcohol in scCO2 through a column containing the supported reagent and recovering the product by depressurization. This method avoids the use of organic solvents and the contamination of the products with chromium species.

Capillary column gas chromatographic identification of sugars in honey as trimethylsilyl derivatives.

1987

A method for identifying carbohydrates (mono-, di- and trisaccharides) in honey is presented. It is based on the separate preparation of both trimethylsilyl ethers and oxime trimethylsilyl ethers of the sugars followed by their gas chromatographic separation on a fused-silica capillary column coated with OV-101 using temperature programming. From the two chromatograms, the number of peaks given by each derivatized sugar, their relative retention times and peak-area ratios are used for identification. The identities of two unidentified trisaccharide peaks are considered. Quantitative applications to honey sugar analysis are discussed.
