Optimal calculation of the pair correlation function for an orthorhombic system

2012

We present a new computational method to calculate arbitrary pair correlation functions of an orthorombic system in the most efficient way. The algorithm is demonstrated by the calculation of the radial distribution function of shock compressed liquid hydrogen.

<title>New PW stretcher-compressor design for PHELIX laser</title>

2005

With PHELIX (Petawatt High Energy Laser for heavy Ion EXperiments) a high energy/ultra-high intensity laser system is currently under construction at the GSI (Gesellschaft fur SchwerIonenforschung, Germany). In combination with the high current high energy ion accelerator facility this will provide worldwide unique experimental opportunities in the field of dense plasma physics and inertial fusion research. In the long pulse mode the laser system will provide laser pulses of up to 5 kJ in 1-10 ns pulses. In the high intensity mode pulse powers in excess of 1 PW will be achieved. For this the well known technique of chirped pulse amplification (CPA) will be implemented. A new CPA stretcher-c…

Overlapped moving windows followed by principal component analysis to extract information from chromatograms and application to classification analys…

2015

Variable generation from chromatograms is conveniently accomplished using unsupervised rather than manual techniques. With unsupervised techniques, there is no need for selecting a few peaks for manual integration and valuable information is quickly and efficiently collected. The generation of variables can be performed by using either peak searching or moving window (MW) strategies. With a MW approach, the peaks are ignored and many variables, only part of them carrying information, are generated. Thus, variable generation by MWs should be followed by data compression to generate the variables to be further used for classification or quantitation purposes. In this work, unsupervised proces…

Pressure Effects on the Thermodynamics oftrans-Decahydronaphthalene/Polystyrene Polymer Solutions: Application of the Sanchez-Lacombe Lattice Fluid T…

2003

The cloud-point temperatures (T-cl's) of trans-decahydronaphthalene(TD)/polystyrene (PS, (M) over bar (w) = 270 000) solutions were determined by light scattering measurements over a range of temperatures (1-16degreesC), pressures (100-900 bar), and compositions (4.2-21.6 vol.-% polymer). The system phase separates upon cooling and T-cl was found to increase with rising pressure for constant composition. In the absence of special effects, this finding indicates positive excess volume for the mixing. Special attention was paid to the demixing temperatures as a function of pressure for different polymer solutions and the plots in the T-phi plane (where phi signifies volume fractions). The clo…

Capitini. Educazione, religione, nonviolenza

2016

On the construction of classes of suffix trees for square matrices: Algorithms and applications

1995

Given an n × n TEXT matrix with entries defined over an ordered alphabet σ, we introduce 4n−1 classes of index data structures for TEXT. Those indices are informally the two-dimensional analog of the suffix tree of a string [15], allowing on-line searches and statistics to be performed on TEXT. We provide one simple algorithm that efficiently builds any chosen index in those classes in O(n2 log n) worst case time using O(n2) space. The algorithm can be modified to require optimal O(n2) expected time for bounded σ.

On-line construction of two-dimensional suffix trees

1997

We present a new technique, which we refer to as implicit updates, based on which we obtain: (a) an algorithm for the on-line construction of the Lsuffix tree of an n x n matrix A — this data structure, described in [13], is the two-dimensional analog of the suffix tree of a string; (b) simple algorithms implementing primitive operations for LZ1-type on-dine lossless image compression methods. Those methods, recently introduced by Storer [35], are generalizations of LZl-type compression methods for strings (see also [24, 31]). For the problem in (a), we get nearly an order of magnitude improvement over algorithms that can be derived from known techniques [13]. For the problem in (b), we do …

Numerical and Experimental Analysis of the Frictional Effects on 4ENF Delamination Tests Performed on Unidirectional CFRP

2015

Abstract Progressive delamination in composite materials under static or fatigue loading condition are, in many structures, one of the predominant cause of failure. In the paper, an accurate study of quasi-static delamination growth under mode II loading condition is conducted. Several experimental tests are performed on composite laminates consisting of unidirectional carbon/epoxy layers. Four-point end-notched flexure (4ENF) test is employed in order to characterize the mode II interlaminar fracture toughness. The R-curve is obtained by means of optical and numerical determination of crack tip position. The energy release rate and the crack length are calculated through experimental deter…

Experimental investigation on the effectiveness of basalt-fibre strengthening systems for confining masonry elements
