Flexible and efficient computer-aided design tool for advanced comb-line rectangular waveguide filters

A very flexible and efficient computer-aided design CAD tool, specifically suited for advanced comb-line rectangular waveguide filters, is presented in this work. The developed software tool, which makes use of a full-wave analysis technique based on the Boundary Integral-Resonant Mode Expansion method, allows loading the considered comb-line resonators with any number of radially symmetrical partial-height metallic posts. The implemented CAD tool also allows dealing with coupling windows of arbitrary cross-section, thus drastically enhancing the flexibility of the CAD process. Parametric Hull Design with Rational Bézier Curves

AbstractIn this paper, a tool able to support the sailing yacht designer during the early stage of the design process has been developed. Quadratic and cubic Rational Bézier curves have been selected to describe the main curves defining the hull of a sailing yacht. The adopted approach is based upon the definition of a set of parameters, say the length of water line, the beam of the waterline, canoe body draft and some dimensionless coefficients according to the traditional way of the yacht designer. In this contribution, recent developments in the design of biocatalysts are reviewed with particular emphasis in the de novo strategy. Studies based on three different reactions, Kemp elimination, Diels–Alder and Retro-Aldolase, are used to illustrate different success achieved during the last years. Car style-holon recognition in computer-aided design

Abstract Multi-scale design can presumably stimulate greater intelligence in computer-aided design (CAD). Using the style-holon concept, this paper proposes a computational approach to address multi-scale style recognition for automobiles. A style-holon is both a whole—it contains sub-styles of which it is composed—as well as a part of a broader style. In this paper, we first apply a variable precision rough set-based approach to car evaluation and ranking. Computer-aided design of substrate integrated waveguide filters for microwave and millimeter-wave applications

In this paper, a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tool of Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) filters for high frequency applications is described. Some synthesis techniques are successfully combined with a fast and accurate full-wave analysis method, thus designing several practical examples of in-line and cross-coupled SIW filters. Prototypes have been manufactured and measured showing good results for different filter topologies. A novel zigzag coupling scheme is proposed for SIW compact filters in order to achieve very restrictive specifications of ultra-wideband (UWB) systems.
