An Intelligent Sensor for Fingerprint Recognition

In this paper an intelligent sensor for fingerprint recognition is proposed. The sensor has the objective to overcome some limits of the fingerprint recognition software systems, as elaboration time and security issues related to fingerprint transmission between sensor and processing unit. Intelligent sensor has been prototyped using the Hamster Secugen sensor for image acquisition and the Celoxica RC1000 board, employing a Xilinx VirtexE2000 FPGA, for image processing and analysis. Abstract The described interface to a digital computer measures interspike interval durations with a resolution of 10 μs. A built-in first-in first-out (FIFO) memory relieves the host computer from frequent I/O intensive tasks. The internal FIFO buffer can store up to 512 data words (wordlength is 16 bit) and works on the dual-port principle. This way the acquisition of a neuronal spike train is completely independent of the computer's simultaneously ongoing data access. A microcontroller-based portable electrocardiograph recorder.

We describe a low cost portable Holler design that can be implemented with off-the-shelf components. The recorder is battery powered and includes a graphical display and keyboard. The recorder is capable of acquiring up to 48 hours of continuous electrocardiogram data at a sample rate of up to 250 Hz.
A standard-compliant prototype for PV module curve detection

In this paper, a prototype for PV module curve detection which features low cost and size and ensures high accuracy is proposed. The proposed architecture is based on a buck-boost converter in open-loop configuration. The proposed architecture is fully compliant with actual standard IEC60904. The duty-cycle control algorithm and its own effects on system performances are accurately investigated. The comparison of different duty-cycle patterns is carried out and performance evaluation is performed. Simulation results are shown to perform a valuable comparison of control algorithms. Preliminary experimental results on a laboratory prototype are presented.
Development of the control card for the digitizers of the second generation electronics of AGATA

In this work, the features and development process of the novel control card for the digitizers of AGATA are presented. The board is part of the new hardware proposed for the electronic system of the experiment. In particular, the control card provides the sampling clock for the digitizers, contributes to the synchronization of the digital data and performs the slow control of its associated digitizer cards.

This work pretends to develop a robot for vigilance tasks that are able to tolerate diverse kinds of attacks and be able to operate in environments with elevated electromagnetic noise, being even immune to sabotage provoked by means of high electromagnetic fields. A new CAN based communications system that interconnects the different devices that compose the mobile robot has been developed to achieve this goal.
