Snapshot RGB mapping of skin melanin and hemoglobin.

The concept of snapshot red-green-blue (RGB) multispectral imaging was applied for skin chromophore mapping. Three monochromatic spectral images have been extracted from a single RGB image dataset at simultaneous illumination of skin by 473-, 532-, and 659-nm laser lines. The spectral images were further transformed into distribution maps of skin melanin, oxyhemoglobin, and deoxyhemoglobin, related to pigmented and vascular skin malformations. The performance and clinical potential of the proposed technique are discussed

Texture analysis and optical anisotropy measurements of leukocytes for early diagnostics of diabetes mellitus

DNA damage had been suggested to contribute to the pathogenesis of insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). In this work we present a method for detection and discrimination of such DNA changes by means of analysis of light microscope images of anisotropically stained leukocytes nuclei. Several features of the images have been evaluated, including integrated optical density, degree of polarisation, and textural features. A genetic algorithm, coupled with a neural classifier, has been used to find the best features for identification of the pathology. Reported results indicate the best set is able to achieve an 83% correct classification ratio.

Improving bleeding detector features for electron intraoperative radiotherapy

Abstract Purpose The aim of this work is to improve the potential bleeding detection during intraoperative radiotherapy with linac polymethyl methacrylate applicators (PMMA), based on one previously developed. Application of silicon-based camera for measurement of non-homogeneous thermal field on realistic specimen surface

Abstract The high-cost low-resolution infrared cameras operating in middle infrared spectral ranges are widely used to detect the thermal fields. In this study, a low-cost high-resolution silicon-based sensor camera operating in near infrared spectral ranges is used to perform the observation of the thermal fields on the realistic steel specimen surface. Nanogoniometry with scanning force microscopy: a model study of CdTe thin films.

In this paper scanning force microscopy is combined with simple but powerful data processing to determine quantitatively, on a sub-micrometer scale, the orientation of surface facets present on crystalline materials. A high-quality scanning force topography image is used to determine an angular histogram of the surface normal at each image point. In addition to the known method for the assignment of Miller indices to the facets appearing on the surface, a quantitative analysis is presented that allows the characterization of the relative population and morphological quality of each of these facets.
