Formation of Venous Collaterals and Regeneration in the Donor Remnant Liver: Volumetric Analysis and Three-Dimensional Visualization

Abstract Purpose We sought was to quantify and visualize the regeneration of the remnant liver after living donor liver transplantation using computed tomographic (CT) data. Methods For the evaluation of preoperative and follow-up data, we developed a software assistant that was able to compute the volume growth of the remnant liver and liver territories as well as visualize the individual growth of hepatic vessels over time. Theoretical approach and clinical application of kinetic modelling in dialysis.

Using kinetic modelling for shaping profile dialysis, we present a promising approach to improve the cardiovascular stability of patients during dialysis treatment. In order to obtain an insight into the physiological mechanisms of increased stability, a model considering alterations of electrolytes and water distribution and of acid-base status was developed. This algorithm was used for the evaluation of 114 dialysis sessions, which were performed with highly individualised profiles. Abstract Introduction The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of our classification on right graft adult live donor liver transplantation (ALDLT) outcomes. Methods Three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) reconstructions were used to classify the hilar and sectorial biliary anatomy of 71 consecutive live liver donors. Four possible clinical types were defined, based on the normal (N) or abnormal (A) features of the corresponding hilar/sectorial ducts: type I, N/N; type II, N/A; type III, A/N; and type IV, A/A. Analysis and evaluation of periodic physiological organ motion in radiotherapy treatments.

Background and purpose: A system for the detection, measurement and analysis of the periodic physiological organ motion during radiotherapy treatment is proposed and clinically tested in this paper. Material and methods: The procedure is based on the acquisition of fluoroscopic sequences, followed by an automatic detection of the movement using cross-correlations with matched filters. Results: The system generates a probability density function (PDF) of finding a mobile organ in a position at a certain time. Residual coronary stenosis after thrombolysis with rt-PA or streptokinase: acute results and 3 weeks follow-up

Ninety-one patients with acute myocardial infarction were assigned to intravenous treatment with streptokinase or rt-PA as part of the randomized trial carried out by the European Study Group for Recombinant Tissue-Type Plasminogen Activator (rt-PA). A patent coronary artery was found in 37 of 45 (82%) patients treated with rt-PA and in 27 of 46 (59%) patients treated with streptokinase 75-90 minutes after start of infusion. Patients were subsequently anticoagulated with heparin or dicoumarol up to a repeat angiography 3 weeks after the infarction. Anxiety reduction with music and tempo synchronization on magnetic resonance imaging patients

Anxiety and claustrophobic reactions in MRI examinations cause unintentional movements, and such motion artifacts lead to interpretation problems. Furthermore, requested anesthesia makes the process costly. A total of 60 outpatients were examined in the Diagnostic Centre of Pécs, Hungary, to test whether synchronizing recorded music to the gradient pulsation of the MRI device can improve the sedative effect of the music.
