Resonant control of spin dynamics in ultracold quantum gases by microwave dressing

2006

We study experimentally interaction-driven spin oscillations in optical lattices in the presence of an off-resonant microwave field. We show that the energy shift induced by this microwave field can be used to control the spin oscillations by tuning the system either into resonance to achieve near-unity contrast or far away from resonance to suppress the oscillations. Finally, we propose a scheme based on this technique to create a flat sample with either singly- or doubly-occupied sites, starting from an inhomogeneous Mott insulator, where singly- and doubly-occupied sites coexist.

Driving slow-light solitons by a controlling laser field

2005

In the framework of the nonlinear Λ-model we investigate propagation of a slow-light soliton in atomic vapours and Bose–Einstein condensates. The velocity of the slow-light soliton is controlled by a time-dependent background field created by a controlling laser. For a fairly arbitrary time dependence of the field we find the dynamics of the slow-light soliton inside the medium. We provide an analytical description for the nonlinear dependence of the velocity of the signal on the controlling field. If the background field is turned off at some moment of time, the signal stops. We find the location and shape of the spatially localized memory bit imprinted into the medium. We show that the pr…

Ramp-up of Hawking radiation in Bose-Einstein condensate analogue black holes

2020

Inspired by a recent experiment by Steinhauer and co-workers, we present a simple model which describes the formation of an acoustic black hole in a Bose-Einstein condensate, allowing an analytical computation of the evolution in time of the corresponding density-density correlator. We show the emergence of analog Hawking radiation out of a "quantum atmosphere" region significantly displaced from the horizon. This is quantitatively studied both at $T=0$ and even in the presence of an initial temperature T, as is always the case experimentally.

One-dimensional charged kaon femtoscopy in p -Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV

2019

The correlations of identical charged kaons were measured in p-Pb collisions at √sNN=5.02 TeV by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The femtoscopic invariant radii and correlation strengths were extracted from one-dimensional kaon correlation functions and were compared with those obtained in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at √s=7 TeV and √sNN=2.76 TeV, respectively. The presented results also complement the identical-pion femtoscopic data published by the ALICE collaboration. The extracted radii increase with increasing charged-particle multiplicity and decrease with increasing pair transverse momentum. At comparable multiplicities, the radii measured in p-Pb collisions are found to be close to tho…

Next-to-leading order Balitsky-Kovchegov equation with resummation

2016

We solve the Balitsky-Kovchegov evolution equation at next-to-leading order accuracy including a resummation of large single and double transverse momentum logarithms to all orders. We numerically determine an optimal value for the constant under the large transverse momentum logarithm that enables including a maximal amount of the full NLO result in the resummation. When this value is used the contribution from the $\alpha_s^2$ terms without large logarithms is found to be small at large saturation scales and at small dipoles. Close to initial conditions relevant for phenomenological applications these fixed order corrections are shown to be numerically important.

Stabilization of 1D solitons by fractional derivatives in systems with quintic nonlinearity

2022

AbstractWe study theoretically the properties of a soliton solution of the fractional Schrödinger equation with quintic nonlinearity. Under “fractional” we understand the Schrödinger equation, where ordinary Laplacian (second spatial derivative in 1D) is substituted by its fractional counterpart with Lévy index $$\alpha$$ α . We speculate that the latter substitution corresponds to phenomenological account for disorder in a system. Using analytical (variational and perturbative) and numerical arguments, we have shown that while in the case of Schrödinger equation with the ordinary Laplacian (corresponding to Lévy index $$\alpha =2$$ α = 2 ), the soliton is unstable, even infinitesimal diffe…

Diffractive dijet production from the Color Glass Condensate and the small-x gluon distributions

2019

We study exclusive dijet production in electron-proton deep inelastic scattering at a future Electron Ion Collider. We predict the elliptic modulation of the cross section as a function of the angle between the dijet transverse momentum and the recoil momentum, and show that this modulation is due to non-trivial angular correlations between the transverse coordinate and transverse momentum in the Wigner (or Husimi) distribution. The small-$x$ evolution is shown to decrease the elliptic modulation in the EIC kinematics, because of the growth of the proton with decreasing $x$.

On the gluon spectrum in the glasma

2010

We study the gluon distribution in nucleus-nucleus collisions in the framework of the Color-Glass-Condensate. Approximate analytical solutions are compared to numerical solutions of the non-linear Yang-Mills equations. We find that the full numerical solution can be well approximated by taking the full initial condition of the fields in Coulomb gauge and using a linearized solution for the time evolution. We also compare kt-factorized approximations to the full solution.

PREDICTIONS FOR p+PbCOLLISIONS AT $\sqrt{s_{_{\it NN}}} = 5$

2013

Predictions for charged hadron, identified light hadron, quarkonium, photon, jet and gauge bosons in p+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\it NN}}} = 5\, {\rm TeV}$ are compiled and compared. When test run data are available, they are compared to the model predictions.
