Effects of Lévy noise on the dynamics of sine-Gordon solitons in long Josephson junctions
2015
We numerically investigate the generation of solitons in current-biased long Josephson junctions in relation to the superconducting lifetime and the voltage drop across the device. The dynamics of the junction is modelled with a sine-Gordon equation driven by an oscillating field and subject to an external non-Gaussian noise. A wide range of $\alpha$-stable L\'evy distributions is considered as noise source, with varying stability index $\alpha$ and asymmetry parameter $\beta$. In junctions longer than a critical length, the mean switching time (MST) from superconductive to the resistive state assumes a values independent of the device length. Here, we demonstrate that such a value is direc…
Dynamic spin-triplet order induced by alternating electric fields in superconductor-ferromagnet-superconductor Josephson junctions
2021
Dynamic states offer extended possibilities to control the properties of quantum matter. Recent efforts are focused on studying the ordered states which appear exclusively under the time-dependent drives. Here we demonstrate a class of systems which feature dynamic spin-triplet superconducting order stimulated by the alternating electric field. The effect is based on the interplay of ferromagnetism, interfacial spin-orbital coupling (SOC) and the condensate motion driven by the field, which converts hidden static p-wave order, produced by the joint action of the ferromagnetism and the SOC, into dynamical s-wave equal-spin triplet correlations. We demonstrate that the critical current of Jos…
Noise induced effects in overdamped Josephson junction in the presence of colored noise
2007
We analyze the role of the correlated fluctuations, with a correlation time τc, in the dynamics of an overdamped Josephson junction in the presence of a periodic driving signal.
Hierarchies of length-scale based typology in anisotropic U(1)s -wave multiband superconductors
2019
Since Ginzburg and Landau's seminal work in 1950, superconducting states have been classified by the hierarchy of the fundamental length scales of the theory, the magnetic-field penetration lengths ...
Dominance of the first excitation step for magnetic circular dichroism in near-threshold two-photon photoemission
2012
Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) in near-threshold photoemission is measured for a perpendicularly magnetized Cs/Co/Pt(111) film with work function adjusted by Cs adsorption. For one-photon photoe ...
Very long nuclear relaxation times of spin polarized helium 3 in metal coated cells
1995
Abstract We obtained very long relaxation times T 1 of up to 120 h for the nuclear polarization of an optically pumped helium 3 gas. The glass containers were internally coated with metallic films such as bismuth or cesium. These findings will have applications in the field of helium magnetometers and polarized targets.
Two-Quasiparticle Mixing in Odd-Odd Nuclei
2007
In Chap. 16 the residual Hamiltonian was used to mix proton-proton and neutron—neutron two-quasiparticle configurations. The resulting wave functions described states in even-even open-shell nuclei. In this chapter we develop a corresponding formalism, the proton-neutron QTDA, for mixing proton-neutron two-quasiparticle configurations. This mixing produces wave functions that describe states in odd-odd open-shell nuclei. The quasiparticles are obtained from a BCS calculation for an even-even reference nucleus next to the odd-odd nucleus of interest.
Electron–phonon interaction in a thin Al–Mn film
2006
Abstract Aluminum doped with manganese is an interesting novel material with applications in normal metal–insulator–superconductor (NIS) tunnel junction devices and transition-edge sensors at sub-Kelvin temperatures. We have studied the electron–phonon (e–p) coupling in a thin aluminum film doped with 1% manganese, with a measuring technique based on DC hot-electron effect. The electron temperature was measured with the help of symmetric normal metal–insulator–superconductor tunnel-junction pairs (SINIS-thermometers). Measurements show that the temperature dependence of the e–p interaction is not consistent with existing theories for disordered metals, but follows a higher power law.
Charmed baryon strong coupling constants in a light-front quark model
1998
Light-Front quark model spin wave functions are employed to calculate the three independent couplings g_{\Sigma_c \Lambda_c \pi}, f_{\Lambda_{c1} \Sigma_c \pi} and f_{\Lambda^{*}_{c1} \Sigma_c \pi} of S-wave to S-wave and P-wave to S-wave one-pion transitions. It is found that g_{\Sigma_c \Lambda_c \pi}=6.81 MeV^{-1}, f_{\Lambda_{c1} \Sigma_c \pi}=1.16 and f_{\Lambda^{*}_{c1} \Sigma_c \pi}=0.96 . 10^{-4} MeV^{-2}. We also predict decay rates for specific strong transitions of charmed baryons.
Baryon states with open charm in the extended local hidden gauge approach
2014
In this paper we examine the interaction of $D N$ and $D^* N$ states, together with their coupled channels, by using an extension of the local hidden gauge formalism from the light meson sector, which is based on heavy quark spin symmetry. The scheme is based on the use of the impulse approximation at the quark level, with the heavy quarks acting as spectators, which occurs for the dominant terms where there is the exchange of a light meson. The pion exchange and the Weinberg-Tomozawa interactions are generalized and with this dynamics we look for states generated from the interaction, with a unitary coupled channels approach that mixes the pseudoscalar-baryon and vector-baryon states. We f…
