Transconductance Converters Based on Current Mirrors Applied to pH Measurement Using ISFET Sensors
2009
New transconductance circuits (V/I converters) are designed based on current mirrors and operational amplifiers. Their input/output characteristics and the influence of DC parameters are obtained. Experimental results were performed, comparing them with the simulated results. An electronic instrumentation circuit is designed based on one of the transconductance converters analyzed. The purpose of this circuit was to condition the response of an ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET) to measure pH. In the proposed application, the V/I converter presented provides the stability and accuracy of the ISFET operating point, making an easy characterization procedure and the design of multic…
Hot carrier effects in n-MOSFETs with SiO2/HfO2/HfSiO gate stack and TaN metal gate
2009
Charge trapping and trap generation in field-effect transistors with SiO2/HfO2/HfSiO gate stack and TaN metal gate electrode are investigated under uniform and non-uniform charge injection along the channel. Compared to constant voltage stress (CVS), hot carrier stress (HCS) exhibits more severe degradation in transconductance and subthreshold swing. By applying a detrapping bias, it is demonstrated that charge trapping induced degradation is reversible during CVS, while the damage is permanent for hot carrier injection case. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. Metal frame as local protection of superconducting films from thermomagnetic avalanches
2016
Thermomagnetic avalanches in superconducting films propagating extremely fast while forming unpredictable patterns, represent a serious threat for the performance of devices based on such materials. It is shown here that a normal-metal frame surrounding a selected region inside the film area can provide efficient protection from the avalanches during their propagation stage. Protective behavior is confirmed by magneto-optical imaging experiments on NbN films equipped with Cu and Al frames, and also by performing numerical simulations. Experimentally, it is found that while conventional flux creep is not affected by the frames, the dendritic avalanches are partially or fully screened by them…
Opportunity of metallic interconnects for ITSOFC : Reactivity and electrical property.
2006
International audience; Iron-base alloys (Fe-Cr) are proposed hereafter as materials for interconnect of planar-type intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (ITSOFC); they are an alternative solution instead of the use of ceramic interconnects. These steels form an oxide layer (chrornia) which protects the interconnect from the exterior environment, but is an electrical insulator. One solution envisaged in this work is the deposition of a reactive element oxide coating, that slows down the formation of the oxide layer and that increases its electric conductivity. The oxide layer, formed at high temperature on the uncoated alloys, is mainly composed of chromia; it grows in accordance …
Individual arc-discharge synthesized multiwalled carbon nanotubes probed with multiple measurement techniques
2020
Arc-discharge synthesized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (AD-MWNT), or related MWNTs, exhibit a good quality compared to the more common type of MWNT synthesized by catalytic chemical vapor deposition methods. Yet experimental measurements on these are rather few and typically have not correlated data from different measurement techniques. Here, the authors report Raman spectroscopy, scanning probe microscopy, conductivity measurements, and force microscopy on single AD-MWNTs. The results demonstrate the high quality of AD-MWNTs and are compatible with the view of them as the best approximation of MWNTs as an assembly of defect-free concentric individual single-walled carbon nanotubes. The au…
Minimizing coherent thermal conductance by controlling the periodicity of two-dimensional phononic crystals
2019
Periodic hole array phononic crystals (PnC) can strongly modify the phonon dispersion relations, and have been shown to influence thermal conductance coherently, especially at low temperatures where scattering is suppressed. One very important parameter influencing this effect is the period of the structure. Here, we measured the sub-Kelvin thermal conductance of nanofabricated PnCs with identical hole filling factors, but three different periodicities, 4, 8, and 16 $\mu$m, using superconducting tunnel junction thermometry. We found that all the measured samples can suppress thermal conductance by an order of magnitude, and have a lower thermal conductance than the previously measured small…
How can skin conductance responses increase over trials while skin resistance responses decrease?
1985
It is shown that the opposite trends over trials for conductance and resistance response magnitudes that have been found in recent experiments can be explained entirely by the mathematical relationship between conductance and resistance. Two conditions have to be satisfied for such opposite trends to occur: (1) a substantial increase in conductance level over the course of an experiment, and (2) a certain increase in conductance response magnitudes. The opposition in trends, being due solely to the mathematical relationship between conductance and resistance, should not be eliminated by some “correction” procedure. Instead, conductance should be taken as the appropriate variable. Also, no c…
Desarrollo vocacional y preparación para la carrera profesional en estudiantes universitarios
2014
Abstract.VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND PREPARATION FOR CAREER IN COLLEGE STUDENTSPreparation for career emerges as a variable of interest in the university environment to the extent that these students pursue primarily their integration in the workplace for being formed. Moreover, the research reveals the importance of career development at the time of satisfaction and achievement in getting decisions made ??. Both variables are configured as highlights in the processes of counseling and vocational and career guidance. The aim of this study was to establish the relationship between preparation for career and vocational development considering gender as covariates and vocational group membershi…
Growth, yield and fruit quality of 'Tropic Snow' peach on size-controlling rootstocks under dry Mediterranean climates
2013
Abstract A six-year trial was carried out to evaluate the vegetative and productive performance of low-chill, early-ripening ‘Tropic Snow’ peach grown on five peach × almond rootstocks, different for their vigor. The study was conducted in south-western Sicily using 45 V-trained peach trees planted in 2005 and grafted on GF677, the most common rootstock in Sicily, and four low-vigor rootstocks selected at the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, University of Pisa, namely IS5/8 (Polluce), IS5/19 (Castore), IS5/23, and IS5/29. Trunk circumference, winter and summer pruning weight, total number and weight of fruits per tree, and major fruit quality traits were recorded…
