CRMP-4 expression in the adult cerebral cortex and other telencephalic areas of the lizard Podarcis hispanica.
2002
The control of neuritogenesis is crucial for the development, maturation and regeneration of the nervous system. The collapsin response-mediated protein 4 (CRMP-4) is a member of a family of proteins that are involved in neuronal differentiation and axonal outgrowth. In rodents, this protein is expressed in recently generated neurons such as some granule neurons of the dentate gyrus, as well as in certain differentiated neurons undergoing neurite outgrowth or synaptogenesis during adulthood. Since CRMP-4 protein appears to be highly conserved throughout the evolutionary scale, we have used immunocytochemistry to study its distribution in the lizard cerebral cortex. We have found pronounced …
26,28-Diallyloxy-5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,27-bis(cyanomethoxy)calix[4]arene in the partial cone conformation
2006
The title compound, C54H66N2O4, crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. Both adopt the typical partial cone conformation which was also found for 26,28-diallyloxy-5,17-di-tert-butyl-25,27-bis(cyanomethoxy)-11,23-dinitrocalix[4]arene [Danila, Bohmer & Bolte (2005). Org. Biomol. Chem. 3, 3508–3513]. The crystal structure of the title compound in the 1,2-alternate conformation has been determined recently [Danila, Bohmer & Bolte (2005). Org. Biomol. Chem. 3, 3508–3513].

Tally languages accepted by Monte Carlo pushdown automata
1997
Rather often difficult (and sometimes even undecidable) problems become easily decidable for tally languages, i.e. for languages in a single-letter alphabet. For instance, the class of languages recognizable by 1-way nondeterministic pushdown automata equals the class of the context-free languages, but the class of the tally languages recognizable by 1-way nondeterministic pushdown automata, contains only regular languages [LP81]. We prove that languages over one-letter alphabet accepted by randomized one-way 1-tape Monte Carlo pushdown automata are regular. However Monte Carlo pushdown automata can be much more concise than deterministic 1-way finite state automata.
Radiation curing of diacrylate glycerolate of bisphenol-A in the presence of an organically modified montmorillonite for the production of flame-resi…
2006
Polymerization of an acrylate derivative of bisphenol-A by ionizing radiation in the presence of an organically modified montmorillonite was carried out in order to produce a flame-retardant composite. The measurement of the thermal effect during irradiation indicates that radiation curing of pure resin and resin-clay mixtures occurred in both cases. Moreover, differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis showed that a curing completion can be obtained by thermal curing after irradiation with a significant increase of the glass transition temperature. The morphology was investigated by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. These have indicated t…
Thermal Stability and Flame Retardancy of Polypropylene Composites Containing Siloxane-Silsesquioxane Resins
2018
A novel group of silsesquioxane derivatives, which are siloxane-silsesquioxane resins (S4SQ), was for the first time examined as possible flame retardants in polypropylene (PP) materials. Thermal stability of the PP/S4SQ composites compared to the S4SQ resins and neat PP was estimated using thermogravimetric (TG) analysis under nitrogen and in air atmosphere. The effects of the non-functionalized and n-alkyl-functionalized siloxane-silsesquioxane resins on thermostability and flame retardancy of PP materials were also evaluated by thermogravimetry-Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (TG-FTIR) and by cone calorimeter tests. The results revealed that the functionalized S4SQ resins may for…
Mapping of penetrometer resistance in relation to tractor traffic using multivariate geostatistics
2007
Abstract The traffic of agricultural machines can cause soil compaction and high variability of soil structure, both along normal lines and along those parallel to the field plane. The aim of this work was to investigate the potential of an electronic penetrometer, a GPS, a GIS and geostatistical techniques for mapping soil compaction. In July 2003 soil cone penetrometer resistance was measured using a semi-automatic electronic penetrometer in a sandy-silt soil (Vertic Xerochrept) of inland Sicily where a three-year rotation wheat ( Triticum durum Desf.)–wheat–tomato ( Solanum lycopersicum L.) was practiced. The measurements were carried out along three parallel 3-m long transects, from the…

A free plate model can predict guided modes propagating in tubular bone-mimicking phantoms
2014
The goal of this work was to show that a non-absorbing free plate model can predict with a reasonable accuracy guided modes measured in bone-mimicking phantoms that have circular cross-section. Experiments were carried out on uncoated and coated phantoms using a clinical axial transmission setup. Adjustment of the plate model to the experimental data yielded estimates for the waveguide characteristics (thickness, bulk wave velocities). Fair agreement was achieved over a frequency range of 0.4 to 1.6 MHz. A lower accuracy observed for the thinnest bone-mimicking phantoms was caused by limitations in the wave number measurements rather than by the model itself.
