Riemann surfaces and Teichmüller theory

Riemannin pinnat ja Teichmüller-teoriaa. Tämän työn päämääränä on määritellä Riemannin pintojen Teichmüller-avaruudet sekä tutkia niiden geometrisia ominaisuuksia. Ensin työssä kehitetään peiteavaruuksien ja toimintojen teoriaa, jota sovelletaan Möbius-kuvauksista koostuviin ryhmiin. Tämän jälkeen kvasikonformaalikuvaukset määritellään Riemannin pinnoille ja niiden yhteyttä yhdesti yhtenäisten Riemannin avaruuksien kvasikonformikuvauksiin tutkitaan. Bi-Sobolev extensions

We give a full characterization of circle homeomorphisms which admit a homeomorphic extension to the unit disk with finite bi-Sobolev norm. As a special case, a bi-conformal variant of the famous Beurling-Ahlfors extension theorem is obtained. Furthermore we show that the existing extension techniques such as applying either the harmonic or the Beurling-Ahlfors operator work poorly in the degenerated setting. This also gives an affirmative answer to a question of Karafyllia and Ntalampekos.

Analytic capacity and quasiconformal mappings with $W^{1,2}$ Beltrami coefficient

We show that if $\phi$ is a quasiconformal mapping with compactly supported Beltrami coefficient in the Sobolev space $W^{1,2}$, then $\phi$ preserves sets with vanishing analytic capacity. It then follows that a compact set $E$ is removable for bounded analytic functions if and only if it is removable for bounded quasiregular mappings with compactly supported Beltrami coefficient in $W^{1,2}$.

AbstractThe causal relationship between habitual loading and adaptive response in bone morphology is commonly explored by analysing the spatial distribution of mechanically relevant features. In this study, 3D distribution of features in the proximal femur of 91 female athletes (5 exercise loading groups representing habitual loading) is contrasted with 20 controls. A femur specific Ricci-flow based conformal mapping procedure was developed for establishing correspondence among the periosteal surfaces. We prove that if f is an orientation-preserving homeomorphism of a closed orientable surface M whose singular set is totally disconnected, then f is topologically conjugate to a conformal transformation.

Ventricular tachycardia caused by a circuit of re-entry is one of the most critical arrhythmias. It is usually related with heterogeneous scar regions where slow velocity of conduction tissue is mixed with non-conductive tissue, creating pathways (CC) responsible for the tachycardia. Pre-operative DE-MRI can provide information on myocardial tissue viability and then improve therapy planning.
