Esta tesis se enmarca en el proyecto europeo i-CONSENT (H2020, GA 741856) y se enfoca en el consentimiento informado (CI) en el contexto de la investigación biomédica. Su objetivo principal es analizar la problemática actual del CI y proponer recomendaciones que mejoren su comprensibilidad y adaptabilidad a las necesidades y preferencias de la población objetivo. Pediatric head and neck cancer (PHNC) is rare and its nonspecific clinical manifestations may often lead to delayed diagnosis. We aimed to describe the signs, symptoms, and clinicopathological characteristics of PHNC. Medical records were retrospectively reviewed for all PHNC cases diagnosed from 1986 to 2016 affecting patients aged 19-years and younger from a tertiary referral center in Brazil. Demographic variables, anatomical site of primary tumors, histopathological diagnoses, signs and symptoms, and patterns of misdiagnosis were collected and interpreted by statistical and descriptive analysis. Abstract Background Depression is the second most common psychiatric illness in old people. Up to 30% of nursing home residents suffer from minor or major depression. Although depressive disorders in old age can be improved and even cured with adequate therapy, they often go unnoticed in nursing home residents and remain untreated.
