Civil society participation in international decision making: recent developments and future perspectives in the indigenous rights arena
2012
This article focuses on key issues and recent developments concerning indigenous peoples' involvement in international decision making affecting their rights and interests. Based on a human rights-based approach to participation, it suggests that while a number of positive steps have been taken to allow indigenous peoples the possibility to take part to, and influence, relevant intergovernmental decision-making processes, there's a need to provide their own self-governing institutions and organisations with a more influential status than that granted to civil society organisations (CSOs) generally, whereby they can exercise different levels of participatory rights, depending upon the nature…

What is the opinion of the family doctors on the optometry consultations of the Navarre Health Service?
2020
Treatment challenges in and outside a network setting: Soft tissue sarcomas
2019
Patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) experienced better outcomes when treated according to existing clinical practice guidelines either at reference institution or dedicated treatment networks. Despite increasing evidence supporting referral to sarcoma specialised units, up to half of patients are not managed according to guidelines, particularly those in the early stage of their disease requiring surgery. Also, criteria to certify expertise of institutions, such as the treatment volume, are debated and health authorities have only recently started identification of these centres and creation of treatment networks in Europe as well as in several countries. This process have important imp…

Continuity of healthcare for headacahe patients: a problem of communication between headache specialists and general pratictioners
2005
The continuous care of headache patients, from headache centres to general practice, is a managerial problem that is still unsolved in Italy. In fact, if on the one hand patients do not usually go to headache centres because of poor information, on the other hand, if they do, they do not find their general practitioner (GP) sufficiently prepared to continue the management. In Sicily we have formed a dense network of headache centres that we will try to link on the Internet to deal with the problem of poor patients information and poor specialist consultation. We also have faced the problem of the continuous care, trying to overcome "the difficulties of communication between specialists, GPs…
