A Simulation Model of a Tandem Coordinated Supply Chain

This paper presents a study of a coordinated production inventory-system. In the proposed model, any echelon considers its successors as part of its inventory system and generates the replenishment order on the basis of operational information of its partners. We show that the coordinated decision making allows elimination of information distortion along the chain. Furthermore, we show how the bottom-up transmission of inefficiencies, typical of traditional supply chains, is avoided.
On the Performance of Channel Assembling and Fragmentation in Cognitive Radio Networks

[EN] Flexible channel allocation may be applied to multi-channel cognitive radio networks (CRNs) through either channel assembling (CA) or channel fragmentation (CF). While CA allows one secondary user (SU) occupy multiple channels when primary users (PUs) are absent, CF provides finer granularity for channel occupancy by allocating a portion of one channel to an SU flow. In this paper, we investigate the impact of CF together with CA for SU flows by proposing a channel access strategy which activates both CF and CA and correspondingly evaluating its performance. Anharmonic vibrational frequency calculations for solvated molecules in the B3LYP Kohn–Sham basis set limit

Abstract The solvent dependence of harmonic and anharmonic vibrational wavenumbers of water, formaldehyde and formamide was studied using the B3LYP method. The results obtained with the hierarchy of Jensen's polarization-consistent basis sets were fitted with two-parameter formula toward the B3LYP Kohn–Sham complete basis set (CBS) limit. Anharmonic corrections have been obtained by a second order perturbation treatment (VPT2) and vibrational configuration interaction (VCI) method. The solvent environment was treated according to the self-consistent reaction field polarizable continuum model (SCRF PCM) approach.

Abstract Ductile shear zones can develop in at least two ways: (1) a nucleus can grow laterally by free propagation into undeformed host rock, like most faults or joints; (2) the zone may nucleate and grow on or in a planar discontinuity and mimick its orientation. Most small-scale ductile shear zones are mimicking zones, but large-scale ductile shear zones could be free-propagating. The Wadi Filk mylonite zone in Jordan is a two km long, ten meter wide mylonite zone flanked by ultramylonite zones, developed in undeformed Neoproterozoic porphyritic monzogranite. [EN] Chlorophyll-a concentration is one of the main indicators of inland waters quality. Using CHRIS/PROBA images and in situ data obtained in four lakes in Colombia and Spain, we obtained empirical models for the estimation of chlorophyll-a concentration, which can be directly applied to future images of MSI Sentinel-2 and OLCI Sentinel-3 sensors. The models, based on spectral band indices, were validated with data from the hyperspectral sensor HICO, onboard of the International Space Station.

A dynamic diffusion-reaction-growth model is proposed for the study of lactic fermentation, the bioconversion of citric acid, and cell release in an immobilized cell reactor [pH-stat continuous stirred tank-reactor (CSTR)]. The model correctly simulates the onset of fermentation and colonization of the gel, followed by the steady state. External diffusion is nonlimiting and internal diffusion is limited by high cell densities at the periphery of the gel beads. Lactose-citrate cometabolism in the gel is related to the distribution of active included biomass within the gel and to gradients of substrates (lactose, citrate) and products (lactate, pH) in the beads. Continuous flow-injection-atomic absorption spectrometric method for the determination of Ondansetron

Abstract A flow-injection procedure for the indirect determination of the new drug Ondansetron is proposed. The method is based on the reaction of the drug in an oxidative solid-phase reactor included in the flow assembly. The reactor was made by lead dioxide physically entrapped by polymerization; the released lead(II) was monitored by atomic absorption spectrometry at 217.0 nm. The procedure gave a linear calibration graph up to 20 μg ml−1 of Ondansetron with a sample throughput of 338 samples h−1.
