We assessed whether creation of the Mainz pouch I, which requires 24 to 36 cm. of terminal ileum and 12 cm. of ascending colon including the ileocecal valve, leads to metabolic disturbances.In 137 patients the levels of vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, D and E, folic and bile acids, ammonia, and intracorpuscular vitamin B12 and folic acid were evaluated and a red blood count was performed. We evaluated the outcome in female patients with classic bladder exstrophy and continent urinary diversion for sexual function and fertility.We reviewed the medical records of female exstrophy patients who underwent continent urinary diversion in our department between 1969 and 2014. Patients were invited for followup examination and asked to complete questionnaires relating to sexual function, social integration and maternity.Of 38 eligible patients 29 (response rate 76%) with a followup of 22.3 years were included in study. Carotid intima media thickness (cIMT) and plaque determined by ultrasonography are established measures of subclinical atherosclerosis that each predicts future cardiovascular disease events. We conducted a meta-analysis of genome-wide association data in 31,211 participants of European ancestry from nine large studies in the setting of the Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE) Consortium. The Strategic Implementation Plan of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) proposed six Action Groups. After almost three years of activity, many achievements have been obtained through commitments or collaborative work of the Action Groups. However, they have often worked in silos and, consequently, synergies between Action Groups have been proposed to strengthen the triple win of the EIP on AHA. The paper presents the methodology and current status of the Task Force on EIP on AHA synergies. Abstract Sinemurian and Pliensbachian depositional sequences from the starved distal northern continental margin of the Tethys are preserved in the Medianes Nappe (Western Swiss Prealps). They contain mineralized beds which include a variety of facies. The northern continental margin of the Tethys was broken into blocks, less than 50 km wide, during an extensional phase. The Sinemurian and Pliensbachian sediments in the study are vary in thickness from less than 50 m in the north to more than 200 m in the south. Presence of plastic particles in waterbirds faeces collected in Spanish lakes

Plastic intake by marine vertebrates has been widely reported, but information about its presence in continental waterfowl is scarce. Here we analyzed faeces of waterbirds species (European coot, Fulica atra, mallard, Anas platyrhynchos and shelduck, Tadorna tadorna) for plastic debris in five wetlands in Central Spain. We collected 89 faeces of shelduck distributed in four lakes, 43.8% of them presented plastic remnants. Sixty percent of 10 faeces of European coot and 45% of 40 faeces of mallard contained plastic debris.
