Abstract This paper proposes an efficient solution to the problem of reactive power flow tracing in electrical transmission networks. For such systems, the tracing techniques used for active power flows cannot be used straightforwardly, due to reactive power variations induced by the line reactances, these variations often being comparable to the powers delivered to the loads. Abstract Friction and disturbances of the road are the main sources of nonlinearity in the Electric Power Steering (EPS) System. Consequently, conventional linear controllers design based on a simplified linear model of the EPS system will result in poor dynamic performance or system instability. On the other hand, a brush-type DC motor is more used in EPS control with an input current that is limited in practice. Stability and Noises Evaluation of Fuzzy Kalman UAV Navigation System.

In this paper a new Fuzzy/Kalman navigation system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is presented. A closed loop velocity Fuzzy navigation system is proposed for stabilizing the UAV in a reference trajectory generated dynamically and for obtaining a forward velocity command. The Kalman's filter (KF) is included in the feedback line of the fuzzy control system to filter the internal noise of the sensors and to evaluate the external noise due to possible perturbations of the nominal motion. The efficiency of the navigation system has been shown through experimental tests in a Matlab environment.

LPV Predictive Control of the Stall and Surge for Jet Engine 1

Abstract Predictive control of constrained LPV systems is applied to the model of the stall and surge control for jet engine compressors. The objective of the used technique is to optimize nominal performance while guaranteeing robust stability and constraint satisfaction. This is achieved by exploiting invariant sets and a receding horizon optimization procedure which provides on-line a non-linear correction to a gain-scheduled linear feedback designed off-line. A comparison with a contractive gain-scheduling control technique is also shown.

A Robust Predictive Current Control for Three-Phase Grid-Connected Inverters

2009

This paper presents a new predictive control algorithm for grid-connected current-controlled inverters. The control combines a two-sample deadbeat control law with a Luenberger observer to estimate the future value of the grid currents. The resulting control offers robustness against the computational delay inherent in the digital implementation and considerably enhances the gain and phase margins of the previous predictive controls while maintaining the high-speed response typical of the deadbeat controllers.

Hidden oscillations in stabilization system of flexible launcher with saturating actuators

Abstract In the paper the attitude stabilization system of the unstable flexible launcher with saturating input is considered. It is demonstrated that due to actuator saturation the system performance can significantly degrade. The analytical-numerical method is applied to demonstrate possibility of hidden oscillations and localize their attractor.

On the Impact of Plant Model and Controller Sophistication on Performance of Disturbance Attenuation and System Robustness

In the paper the problem of disturbance attenuation performance in single-loop control system is investigated. Modified MV control strategy with bounded control variance is used as benchmark for both LQG and classically and optimally tuned PID-type controllers. Certain time and frequency domain functions are then examined to further assess the control performance in terms of robustness. Abstract In this paper, a new backward/forward (b/f) methodology for the analysis of distribution systems with constant power loads is presented. In the proposed method, at each iteration, the loads are considered as constant impedances; in the backward sweep all the network variables (bus voltages and branch currents) are evaluated considering a scaling factor which is determined at the end of the backward phase. Fiber laser mode locked through an evolutionary algorithm

Mode locking of fiber lasers generally involves adjusting several control parameters, in connection with a wide range of accessible short-pulse dynamics. In this Letter, we experimentally demonstrate the ability of an evolutionary algorithm to prescribe a set of cavity parameters entailing specific self-starting mode locking. The prescribed parameters are applied to electrically driven polarization controllers, thus shaping the effective nonlinear transfer function at play within the fiber cavity.
