AbstractQuantum-dot cellular automata (QCA), due to its unique characteristics like low power consumption, nanoscale design, and high computing speed is considered as an emerging technology, and it can be used as an alternative for CMOS technology in circuit design for quantum computers in the near future. This paper presents the benefits and drawbacks of replacing the traditional Si Mosfets transistors with enhancement mode GaN transistors in a Half-Bridge Zero Voltage and Zero Current Switching Power Switching (ZVZCPS) converter. This type of converters is usually used as Electronic Power Converters (EPC) for telecommunication satellites travelling-wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs). Output Impedance Improvement Using Coupled Inductors

When using a single DC/DC converter with multiple outputs and having a buck topology, which has one filter inductor per output, the designer can choose to couple these outputs together. This paper demonstrates additional benefits of coupling output inductors together. Apart from saving mass and volume, and due to an improved small signal behaviour it also reduces the output impedance of the regulated output. The paper will analyse a seven output push-pull converter used as a space power converter module and verify the theoretical results with experimental measurements.

Min-Type Control Strategy of a DC-DC Synchronous Boost Converter

International audience; This paper presents the analysis and design of a min-type strategy to control a synchronous boost converter in continuous conduction mode. The strategy uses a nonlinear switching surface to establish the change of topology in the converter and is analyzed by means of a sliding-mode control approach. DC/DC converters, in some types of applications such as portable equipments, can require more space than it is actually available. The inductor is typically the most bulky element and the possibility to reduce its size can save up to 50% of the converter volume and area [1][2], thus increasing the power density. Design and Performance Evaluation of a High Power-Density EMI Filter for PWM Inverter-Fed Induction-Motor Drives

This paper presents the design of an electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter for a low-voltage high-current induction-motor drives supplied by dc power grids. In order to effectively design the EMI filter, a suitable common-mode/differential-mode (CM/DM) separation technique has been used. Due to the high operating currents, the software-based separation technique using time-domain measurements has been applied. The proposed technique allows the CM and DM sections of the EMI filter to be properly selected in a more economical way, i.e., without the need of a dedicated hardware or costly radio frequency (RF) instrumentation. Calibration of the underground muon detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory

To obtain direct measurements of the muon content of extensive air showers with energy above $10^{16.5}$ eV, the Pierre Auger Observatory is currently being equipped with an underground muon detector (UMD), consisting of 219 10 $\mathrm{m^2}$-modules, each segmented into 64 scintillators coupled to silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs). Direct access to the shower muon content allows for the study of both of the composition of primary cosmic rays and of high-energy hadronic interactions in the forward direction. We present a DC-DC converter for photovoltaic (PV) applications that is suitable for a distributed power conversion approach, obtained by transferring part of the electronics from the inverter to the module. The proposed circuit is a high-efficiency four-phase interleaved boost converter employing relatively low-valued inductive and capacitive components. Development of bidirectional dc-dc converters for hybrid power sources - Final Report

A Bidirectional Isolated Full-Bridge Converter was designed, prototyped and tested. The device is intended to interface a Bank of Supercapacitors with a battery-powered bus, in order to boost the capability of supplying large power peaks. The converter was based on the Isolated Dual Active Bridge configuration. When driven by an external control voltage, it is capable of generating in both directions a train of current pulses, with 2kW peak power, for any battery voltage in the range 24-32V and for any supercapacitor voltage in the range 35-70V. Worst-case battery current was 70A. Pulse duration was 100ms with 50% duty cycle and 1 ms rise time.
