The Ring-Core Method is a technique used for the experimental analysis of the residual stresses in mechanical components. For uniform and non-uniform residual stresses estimation, the use of the method leads in general to accurate results but, unfortunately at present the user does not have appropriate procedures to correct the obtained results from systematic errors as well as to estimate the uncertainty due to random errors. Nel presente lavoro si propone una estensione dei modelli basati sulla teoria delle travi vincolate su una fondazione cedevole di tipo Winkler per lo studio del comportamento ad indentazione di travi sandwich in schiuma polimerica sollecitate da carichi concentrati. L’approccio proposto è in grado di considerare schiume polimeriche aventi comportamento a compressione di tipo non lineare. Sono derivate soluzioni analitiche in forma chiusa della curva di indentazione per anime in schiuma polimerica il cui comportamento a compressione è approssimabile con un andamento bi-lineare. In tal modo è possibile considerare comportamenti di softening o hardening della schiuma nel tratto post-elastico. …

Fingerprint classification and matching are two key issues in automatic fingerprint recognition. Generally, fingerprint recognition is based on a set of relevant local characteristics, such as ridge ending and bifurcation (minutiae). Fingerprint classification is based on fingerprint global features, such as core and delta singularity points. Unfortunately, singularity points are not always present in a fingerprint image: the acquisition process is not ideal, so that the fingerprint is broken, or the fingerprint belongs to the arch class. Geometric or Clifford Algebra (CA) is a powerful mathematical tool that is attracting a growing attention in many research fields such as computer graphics, computer vision, robotics and medical imaging for its natural and intuitive way to represent geometric objects and their transformations. This paper introduces the architecture of CliffordCoreDuo, an embedded dual-core coprocessor that offers direct hardware support to four-dimensional (4D) Clifford algebra operations. Lo studio, dopo una breve biografia aggiornata di Jean Carondelet, importante colto ecclesiastico e politico fiammingo, che fu anche arcivescovo di Palermo dal 1520 al 1544, ne indaga la committenza artistica (vetrate istoriate, paramenti sacri ricamati, stalli corali lignei intagliati, manoscritti liturgici miniati, dipinti, sculture marmoree) tra Franca Contea, Paesi Bassi borgognoni e la stessa Palermo, col supporto di un'inedito testamento secondo cui egli avrebbe donato già in vita "vestimenta seu ornamenta ecclesiastica" di grande valore alla cattedrale palermitana, tra cui forse la mitria e il paliotto già tradizionalmente identificati col suo cognome.

The study makes known, thanks to unpublished autograph payment receipt of the painter, Vincenzo Maria Salerno, hitherto unknown to studies, the authorship and date of execution (1731) of the recently found frescoes inside the chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, as well as data on the client, priest Vincenzo Pecorella.
