Substituent effects on13C NMR parameters of chlorinated diphenyl ethers. A multiple linear regression analysis

1995

13C NMR chemical shifts and nJ(C,H) coupling constants of polychlorinated diphenyl ethers (PCDEs) were measured and analysed. The chlorine substituent effects on the chemical shifts and the coupling constants were determined by a multiple linear regression analysis. The 13C NMR chemical shifts depend on the conformational preferences in PCDEs. In addition to single substituent effects, corrective terms reflecting the conformational state of the molecule and the mutual steric interactions of two chlorine atoms had to be taken into account for the reliable prediction of the 13C chemical shifts. In contrast to chemical shifts, conformational effects play a minor role in the substituent effects…

Unique distal size selectivity with a digold catalyst during alkyne homocoupling

2015

Metal-catalysed chemical reactions are often controlled by steric hindrance around the metal atom and it is rare that substituents far away of the reaction site could be differentiated during reaction, particularly if they are simple alkyl groups. Here we show that a gold catalyst is able to discriminate between linear carbon alkynes with 10 or 12 atoms in the chain during the oxidative homocoupling of alkynes: the former is fully reactive and the latter is practically unreactive. We present experimental evidences, which support that the distal size selectivity occurs by the impossibility of transmetallating two long alkyl chains in an A-framed, mixed-valence digold (I, III) acetylide compl…

Gold(I) Complexes of Ferrocenyl Polyphosphines: Aurophilic Gold Chloride Formation and Phosphine-Concerted Shuttling of a Dinuclear [ClAu···AuCl] Fra…

2016

International audience; A smart steric control of the metallocene backbone in bis- and poly(phosphino)ferrocene ligands favors intramolecular aurophilic interactions between [AuCl] fragments in polynuclear gold(I) complexes. We synthesized and characterized by multinuclear NMR and X-ray diffraction analysis mono-, di-, and polynuclear gold complexes of constrained ferrocenyl diphosphines, which bear either bulky tert-butyl groups or more flexible siloxane substituents at the cyclopentadienyl rings. The complexes meso-1,1'-bis-(diphenylphosphino)-3,3'-di-tert-butylferrocene (4-m), rac-1,1'-bis[bis-(5-methy1-2-furyl)phosphino]-3,3'-di-tert-butyfferrocene (5-r), and rac-1,1'-bis ( diphenylphos…

Performances of symmetrical achiral ferrocenylphosphine ligands in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions: A review of syntheses, catalytic app…

2007

Abstract Ferrocene derivatives bearing donor atoms led to the generation of several classes of metallo-ligands, which collectively show an impressive diversity of applications, especially in metal-catalyzed modern organic reactions. Based on the impetus provided by the use of the diphosphine 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf) the investigations directed towards the synthesis of new ferrocenylphosphines remain of fundamental and industrial interest. The present review aims to describe the performances in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of symmetrical achiral ferrocenylphosphine ligands, mainly diphosphines. We specifically choose to restrict our review efforts to these …

Cosmic microwave background constraints on secret interactions among sterile neutrinos

2017

Secret contact interactions among eV sterile neutrinos, mediated by a massive gauge boson $X$ (with $M_X \ll M_W$), and characterized by a gauge coupling $g_X$, have been proposed as a mean to reconcile cosmological observations and short-baseline laboratory anomalies. We constrain this scenario using the latest Planck data on Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropies, and measurements of baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO). We consistently include the effect of secret interactions on cosmological perturbations, namely the increased density and pressure fluctuations in the neutrino fluid, and still find a severe tension between the secret interaction framework and cosmology. In fact, taking i…

Revisiting cosmological bounds on sterile neutrinos

2014

We employ state-of-the art cosmological observables including supernova surveys and BAO information to provide constraints on the mass and mixing angle of a non-resonantly produced sterile neutrino species, showing that cosmology can effectively rule out sterile neutrinos which decay between BBN and the present day. The decoupling of an additional heavy neutrino species can modify the time dependence of the Universe's expansion between BBN and recombination and, in extreme cases, lead to an additional matter-dominated period; while this could naively lead to a younger Universe with a larger Hubble parameter, it could later be compensated by the extra radiation expected in the form of neutri…

Use of a bulky phosphine of weak σ-donicity with palladium as a versatile and highly-active catalytic system: allylation and arylation coupling react…

2005

Abstract Carbon–carbon(sp2–sp2 and sp1–sp2) and carbon–nitrogen (nucleophilic allylation) coupling processes are promoted by a catalytic system containing [PdCl(η3–C3H5)]2 with the new ferrocenyl bis(difurylphosphine) 1,1′-bis[di(5-methyl-2-furyl)phosphino]ferrocene, Fc[P(FuMe)2]2. Starting from aryl bromides or allylic acetates this versatile catalyst system may be used at low palladium loadings (10−1–10−4 mol%) in some Heck, Suzuki, Sonogashira and allylic amination reactions to give cross-coupled products in excellent yield. Remarkably high activity is obtained in allylic substitution reactions, providing a significant impetus for the development of bulky phosphines possessing weak σ-don…

θ0 thermal Josephson junction

2017

We predict the thermal counterpart of the anomalous Josephson effect in superconductor/ferromagnet/superconductor junctions with non-coplanar magnetic texture. The heat current through the junction is shown to have the phase-sensitive interference component proportional to $\cos(\theta - \theta_0)$, where $\theta$ is the Josephson phase difference and $\theta_0$ is the texture-dependent phase shift. In the generic tri-layer magnetic structure with the spin-filtering tunnel barrier $\theta_0$ is determined by the spin chirality of magnetic configuration and can be considered as the direct manifestation of the energy transport with participation of spin-triplet Cooper pairs. In case of the id…
