Levels of two-particle and gamma bands in 192 Ir

2015

Abstract Level scheme of the transitional doubly odd nucleus 192 Ir is analysed in detail up to about 530 keV energy using earlier published experimental data of neutron capture and particle transfer reactions. A number of new levels are proposed. Obtained 192 Ir level scheme is interpreted in terms of particle-plus-rotor coupling model. It is shown that the long-lived 241 year isomer of 192 Ir has spin-parity 11 − , just like the analogous states in neighbouring 190,194 Ir.

Proton-hole states in theN=30neutron-rich isotopeK49

2010

Excited states in the N=30 neutron-rich isotope {sup 49}K have been studied using multinucleon transfer reactions with thin targets and the PRISMA-CLARA spectrometer combined with thick-target {gamma}-coincidence data from Gammasphere. The d{sub 3/2} proton-hole state is located 92 keV above the s{sub 1/2} ground state, and the proton-particle f{sub 7/2} state is suggested at 2104 keV. Three other levels are established as involving the coupling to 2{sup +} of two neutrons above the N=28 shell. The measured or estimated lifetimes served to reinforce the interpretation of the observed level structure, which is found to be in satisfactory agreement with shell-model calculations.

Source of Selectivity in Oxidative Cross-Coupling of Aryls by Solvent Effect of 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoropropan-2-ol

2015

Abstract Solvents such as 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) with a high capacity for donating hydrogen bonds generate solvates that enter into selective cross-coupling reactions of aryls upon oxidation. When electric current is employed for oxidation, reagent effects can be excluded and a decoupling of nucleophilicity from oxidation potential can be achieved. The addition of water or methanol to the electrolyte allows a shift of oxidation potentials in a specific range, creating suitable systems for selective anodic cross-coupling reactions. The shift in the redox potentials depends on the substitution pattern of the substrate employed. The concept has been expanded from arene-phenol…

In vitro blood brain barrier exposure to mycotoxins and carotenoids pumpkin extract alters mitochondrial gene expression and oxidative stress.

2021

Abstract Food and feed are daily exposed to mycotoxin contamination which effects may be counteracted by antioxidants like carotenoids. Some mycotoxins as well as carotenoids penetrate the blood brain barrier (BBB) inducing alterations related to redox balance in the mitochondria. Therefore, the in vitro BBB model ECV304 was subcultured for 7 days and exposed to beauvericine, enniatins, ochratoxin A, zearalenone (100 nM each), individually and combined, and pumpkin extract (500 nM). Reactive oxygen species were measured by fluorescence using the dichlorofluorescein diacetate probe at 0 h, 2 h and 4 h. Intracellular ROS generation reported was condition dependent. RNA extraction was performe…

Energy-Linked Reactions Catalyzed by the Purified ATPase Complex (F0F1) from Rhodospirillum rubrum Chromatophores

1980

1. The isolation of the F0F1-ATPase complex from Rhodospirillum rubrum chromatophores by the use of taurodeoxycholate is described. 2. The enzyme preparation contains about 12 polypeptides; five are subunits of the F1 moiety. 3. The ATPase activity of the purified enzyme is dependent on the addition of phospholipids. 4. Km-vales for Mg2+-ATP and Ca2+-ATP are similar to the values obtained for the membrane-bound enzyme. 5. The F0F1-ATPase complex is more than 70% inhibited by oligomycin and N,N′-dicyclohexyl-carbodiimide. 6. The F0F1-ATPase complex was integrated into liposomes. The reconstituted proteoliposomes catalyzed energy transduction as shown by ATP-dependent quenching of acridine dy…

Molecule non-radiative coupling to a metallic nanosphere: an optical theorem treatment.

2009

The non-radiative coupling of a molecule to a metallic spherical particle is approximated by a sum involving particle quasistatic polarizabilities. We demonstrate that energy transfer from molecule to particle satisfies the optical theorem if size effects corrections are properly introduced into the quasistatic polarizabilities. We hope that this simplified model gives valuable information on the coupling mechanism between molecule and metallic nanos-tructures available for, e.g., surface enhanced spectroscopy signal analysis.

Acousto-optic interaction in polyimide coated optical fibers with flexural waves

2017

Acousto-optic coupling in polyimide-coated single-mode optical fibers using flexural elastic waves is demonstrated. The effect of the polyimide coating on the acousto-optic interaction process is analyzed in detailed. Theoretical and experimental results are in good agreement. Although the elastic attenuation is significant, we show that acousto-optic coupling can be produced with a reasonably good efficiency. To our knowledge, it is the first experimental demonstration of acousto-optic coupling in optical fibers with robust protective coating.

Theory of modal attraction in bimodal birefringent optical fibers

2013

Nonlinear mode coupling among two beams of different wavelength that copropagate in a bimodal highly birefringent optical fiber may lead to the effect of modal attraction. Under such circumstances, the modal distribution of light at a pump wavelength is replicated at the signal wavelength, nearly irrespective of the input mode excitation conditions of the signal.
