The energy storage sizing procedure for an all-electric aircraft, characterised by vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), is presented in the paper. In order to define the energy consumption, the propulsion system model has been developed and simulated, referring to a specific configuration of VOLT obtained by the transformation of a very light twin-propeller aircraft named Tecnam P2012 T. The analysis of the time evolution of the power demand of the electric propulsion system during a test mission of Maxwell X-57, an all-electric aircraft developed by NASA, has pointed out the presence of significant peak power during take-off and air tack. Syllabus Design for Pre-service English Language Teachers in Spain

This paper describes the steps involved in designing educational programs for pre-service English language teachers in Secondary education within the Spanish context, following the current educational law (LOMCE). Considering the century-long search for the best method within TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), and the continuous reforms of educational laws in Spain, pre-service teachers must learn the competences and skills essential for designing of their own teaching program. The series of steps described here will enable teachers to show accountability to educational authorities and increase their self-confidence, subsequently improving their craft in the language classroom.

AMDAR (Aircraft Meteorological DAta Relay) automated weather reports from commercial aircraft provide an increasing amount of input data for numerical weather prediction models. Previous studies have investigated the quality of AMDAR data. Few of these studies, however, have revealed indications of systematic errors dependent upon the aircraft type. The organocatalytic synthesis of indolizinones and pyrrolo-azepinones has been accomplished in a tandem fashion through a sequence that comprises initial cycloaromatization followed by intramolecular Friedel-Crafts alkylation. The process takes place under Bronsted acid catalysis, giving rise to final products in moderate to good yields. Attempts to carry out the tandem protocol in an enantioselective fashion were performed with chiral (R)-BINOL-derived N-triflyl phosphoramides. After initial optimization, the tandem process took place with moderate levels of enantioselectivity.
Enantioselective Friedel-Crafts reaction of hydroxyarenes with nitroenynes to access chiral heterocycles via sequential catalysis

Naphthols, hydroxyindoles and an activated phenol are reacted with differently substituted (E)-nitrobut-1-en-3-ynes using the commercially available Rawal's chiral squaramide. The corresponding β-nitroalkynes were obtained with good yields and excellent enantioselectivities. Moreover, dihydronaphthofurans can be accessed via silver catalysed cyclization in a tandem one-pot procedure, with high preservation of the optical purity.

Finnish technology education dates back to 1866 when craft education was accepted to be one of the compulsory subjects in the school curriculum. Uno Cygnaeus, founder of Finnish general education, considered ‘technological’ contents an important part of craft education. Cygnaeus emphasised dexterity, design and aesthetics but also consideration, innovation and creativity (Kantola, 1997). He also underlined the importance of realising the connections between natural sciences and craft education (Kantola et al., 1999).
