The notions of space and time have been a subject of philosophical discussion since antiquity. In modern philosophy, Newton’s concepts of absolute space and absolute time was subject to criticism by empiricists like Berkeley and Hume, who prepared the ground for Einstein and the ideas behind his theories of relativity. In this article, I will consider the concept of space-time from a phenomenological point of view, with particular reference to Jean-Paul Sartre and Jacques Derrida. Sartre presents a phenomenological notion of space as nothingness, and I argue that this notion corresponds closely to Einstein's view, and can be extended to include the notion of time, and hence of space-time. In this work, the author studies the satires against the grammarian in Spanish literary texts of the first third of the 17th century, according to the idea of grammar developed by Nebrija and other humanists. Following the negative judgement made by many essay writers in the 16th century, Salas Barbadillo and Quevedo will repeat some specific motives of that criticism, such as the arrogance or the interest in minor features of the texts, compared to the allegedly profound knowledge seeked by theologicians and moral philosophers. This paper focuses on what really happened when Rousseau did read and commented on Helvétius, which he made twice. Rousseau comments on the theory of judgment from the account of the experience of the sensitive and judging being. The question of matter and its properties will then no longer appear as the key to Rousseau's first reaction to Helvétius' work. The objective of this article is to clarify the Heideggerian rejection of the idea of reflection as the method of philosophy. The need for such explanation lies on the counterintuitive nature of this philosophical thesis and on the interpretive problems that this criticism presents in Being and Time. In order to solve them, a brief historical-conceptual examination of the reflection is realized, leading to two different meanings of the concept, a psychological and a transcendental one. Towards a new conception of metaphysics: Lambert’s criticism on Wolff’s mathematical method

This paper discusses Lambert’s criticism of Wolff’s mathematical method. I take this criticism to consist of two main aspects. Lambert tries on the one hand to revise Wolff’s idea of fundamental concepts by providing what he takes to be a more profound theory of concepts. On the other hand, Lambert introduces postulates that regulate the connection between fundamental concepts and account for their application to experience. Both transformations allow Lambert to put forward a novel approach to metaphysics which is essentially oriented towards experience.

Comparisons between Kant and Schelling are mostly used to systematically analyse topics of German idealism. However, such an approach often disregards the resulting historical aspects. This paper is an attempt to draw historical conclusions from such a systematic analysis. I do so by showing how Schelling’s critique of Kant’s moral doctrine in Philosophie und Religion allows to gain an insight into Schelling’s philosophical development. Specifically, I argue that this criticism rests upon the claim that the ordo cognoscendi must follow the ordo essendi.
