Contribution to the flora of Asian and European countries: new national and regional vascular plant records, 2

The paper presents new records for 20 vascular plant species from eight Asian and two European countries. Expression of epithelial antigens EPM-1 and EXO-1 in normal, transitional, inflammatory and neoplastic colorectal mucosa

EPM-1 (a high molecular weight glycoprotein) and EXO-1 (a carbohydrate epitope expressed on polar neutral glycolipids and mucins) are two developmental antigens of normal and neoplastic human epithelia and were characterised by monoclonal antibodies. Their distribution was investigated in normal and pathological human colorectal mucosa. In normal mucosa, EPM-1 and EXO-1 showed characteristic expression patterns. EPM-1 was differentially expressed along the crypt villus axis with maximum at the crypt basis. EXO-1 was present throughout the whole mucosa. Simple Summary Individual patients with liver cancer have a highly variable clinical course. Hence, there is an urgent need to identify new prognostic markers to determine prognosis and select specific therapies. Expression of two key enzymes in pyrimidine synthesis was analyzed in a large, well-characterized cohort of patients with liver cancer. Dysregulated expression of these enzymes was associated with shorter survival of the patients. A combined score of both markers was found to be a statistically independent prognostic marker. Increasing abundance of microplastics (MP) in marine and freshwaters is currently one of the greatest environmental concerns. Since plastics are fairly resistant to chemical decomposition, breakdown and reutilization of MP carbon complexes requires microbial activity. Comparison of viability assays for Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts after disinfection.

Abstract In order to test various viability assays for Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts were used to infect HCT-8 cells in vitro or baby mice. Infected cells were either stained with fluorescent anti- Cryptosporidium -antibody or lysed and subjected to C. parvum- specific PCR after 48 h. Titrations with infective oocysts were performed and compared to oocysts disinfected with Neopredisan © for 2 h at varying concentrations. Caecal smears and histological sections from infected animals were examined in parallel. Cryptogein, which is secreted by the oomycete Phytophthora cryptogea, is a proteinaceous elicitor of plant defense reactions that activates a set of signaling events leading to the hypersensitive response and to systemic acquired resistance. Mutual entity authentication for LTE

In this paper we outline the Authentication and Key Agreement protocol (EPS-AKA) found in Long-Term Evolution (LTE) systems. This architecture is the 3GPP version of a 4G access security architecture. The LTE security architecture is a mature evolved architecture, with both strengths and weaknesses. In this paper we propose an amendment to the EPS-AKA protocol to make it a full mutual (online) entity authentication protocol. We also analyze the proposal, highlighting both the improvements and the drawbacks of the new AKA protocol.
