Clathration effects on the interpenetration in the 2D (4,4) coordination polymer {[Fe(4,4 ′ -bipy)(dca) 2 ] · bt}
2004
Abstract A novel 2D polymer, {[Fe(4,4′-bipy)(dca)2] · bt}, (dca=dicyanamide, 4,4′-bipy=4,4′-bipyridine and bt=2,2′-bithiazoline) has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The structure reveals the formation of 2D (4,4) networks and intercalated bt uncoordinated ligands.
Synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and magnetic study of a dicyanamido bridged 1D chain nickel(II) complex
2008
Abstract Reaction of Ni(NO3)2 · 6H2O and sodium dicyanamide (Nadca) yields a 1D infinite chain complex {[Ni(dien)(μ1,5-dca)(H2O)](NO3)}n (1) (where dien = diethylenetriamine). The coordination environment in complex 1 around the nickel(II) ions is distorted octahedron. Three nitrogen atoms of the ligand diethylenetriamine and an oxygen atom of H2O molecule constitute the four coordination sites of the basal plane of the octahedron. Of two axial positions of the octahedron, one position is occupied by the nitrogen atom of a μ1,5-dca anion the remaining coordination site is occupied by a nitrogen atom of another end-to-end bridging dca from an adjacent [Ni(dien)(μ1,5-dca)(H2O)] moiety, yieldi…
Preparation, crystal and molecular structure, and evaluation of plant growth regulating activity of guanidinoalkanephosphinates and phosphonates
1995
A series of previously unknown α-guanidinoalkanephosphonous, α- and β-guanidinoalkanephosphonic acids has been prepared in order to study their structures and biological activity. Aminoalkanephosphonous and phosphonic acids have been converted into their guanidino derivatives by means of S-methylisothiourea hydroiodide or cyanamide amidination. The crystal and molecular structures of three guanidino acids have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The plant growth regulating activity of all synthesized guanidinoalkanephosphinates and phosphonates has been evaluated on Lepidium sativum. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
Structural and magnetic diversity in metal-dicyanamido polymer moieties: Paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic 1D chain compound and weakly ferromagneti…

Abstract The reaction of M(NO 3 ) 2 · x H 2 O (M = Cu, Ni and Co; x = 3 for Cu and x = 6 for Co/Ni), imidazole (Im) and sodium dicyanamide (dca) afforded the complexes [M(Im) 2 (dca) 2 ] (where M = Cu for 1 , M = Ni for 2 , and M = Co for 3 ). All of them have been characterized structurally by single crystal X-ray diffraction measurements. X-ray analysis reveals that the dicyanamido ligand features the μ 1,3 bridging mode that led to the formation of two-dimensional structure of complex 1 while complexes 2 and 3 attribute an infinite one-dimensional chain like structure to generate the fascinating molecular assemblies. The {N(CN) 2 } − ligands present in the complexes 2 and 3 are coordin…
Two polymorphs Ni(II) complexes containing the dicyanamide ligand: syntheses, structures and magnetic properties of {[Ni(meso-CTH)(μ1,5-dca)]ClO4}n a…
2004
Abstract Two polymorphs Ni(II) complexes {[Ni(meso-CTH)(μ1,5-dca)]ClO4}n (1) and [Ni(meso-CTH)][Ni(meso-CTH)(dca)2](ClO4)2 (2) have been obtained in the same synthesis from dicyanamide (dca) and [Ni(meso-CTH)](ClO4)2 and have been characterized by X-ray crystallography and magnetic measurements. Complex 1 is a 1D cationic polymeric zig-zag chain with single end-to-end dca bridges connecting Ni(II) ions in trans positions, whereas in compound 2 coexist two different types of Ni(II) mononuclear units, cationic square-planar and neutral octahedral. Variable-temperature magnetic measurements reveal weak ferromagnetic interactions across the single end-to-end dca bridges in 1, while for 2 the ma…
Multiple spin phases in a switchable Fe(ii) complex: polymorphism and symmetry breaking effects
2018
Polymorphism in spin-crossover (SCO) compounds allows accessing additional forms of switchable materials with diverse transition properties. We have prepared three polymorphs of a new complex [FeLBr(dca)2], where LBr is N,N′-bis[(5-bromo-2-pyridyl)methyl]ethane-1,2-diamine and dca is dicyanamide. They display different SCO properties: the α-form displays a hysteretic one-step switch centered at 134 K, the β-form undergoes hysteretic two-step spin transition with a plateau (T1/2 = 153 and 144 K) and the γ-form remains high spin (HS) over the whole temperature region. The kinetic origin of the hysteresis loop was demonstrated in temperature rate dependent magnetic measurements. Spin transitio…
Single-ion magnet behaviour in mononuclear and two-dimensional dicyanamide-containing cobalt(ii) complexes.
2016
Three cobalt(II) complexes of formulae [Co(dca)2(bim)4] (1), [Co(dca)2(bim)2]n (2) and [Co(dca)2(bmim)2]n (3) [dca = dicyanamide, bim = 1-benzylimidazole and bmim = 1-benzyl-2-methylimidazole] were prepared and structurally analyzed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Compound 1 is a mononuclear species where the cobalt(II) ion is six-coordinate with four bim molecules in the equatorial positions [Co–Nbim = 2.1546(15) and 2.1489(15) A] and two trans-positioned dca ligands [Co–Ndca = 2.1575(18) A] in the axial sites of a somewhat distorted octahedral surrounding. The structures of 2 and 3 consist of two-dimensional grids of cobalt(II) ions where each metal atom is linked to the other fo…
Hybrid materials containing organometallic cations and 3-D anionic metal dicyanamide networks of type [Cp*2M][M′(dca)3]
2004
A new series of hybrid materials of type [Cp*2M][M′(dca)3] has been prepared by cation templation and structurally characterised (M = Fe(III), Co(III); M′ = Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cd(II); dca− = N(CN)2−). The crystallographic analysis of [Cp*2Fe][Cd(dca)3] showed that the [Cd(dca)3]− anionic framework is of a symmetrical 3-D α-polonium type, containing octahedral Cd nodes and μ1,5-dca bridging ligands. The [Cp*2Fe]+ cations occupy the cube-like cavities within the framework. The cationic and anionic-framework sublattices remain magnetically independent and display susceptibilities, over the range 300 to 2 K, of a Curie–Weiss nature obtained by adding a S = 1/2 (Cp*2Fe+) or a S = 0 …
Opposite motor responses elicited by ethanol in the posterior VTA: The role of acetaldehyde and the non-metabolized fraction of ethanol
2013
Recent electrophysiological evidence suggests that ethanol simultaneously exerts opposite effects on the activity of dopamine (DA) neurons in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) through two parallel mechanisms, one promoting and the other reducing the GABA release onto VTA DA neurons. Here we explore the possible behavioural implications of these findings by investigating the role displayed by acetaldehyde (the main metabolite of ethanol) and the non-metabolized fraction of ethanol in motor activity of rats. We analyse the appearance of motor activation or depression after intra-VTA administration of ethanol in rats subjected to different pharmacological pre-treatments designed to preferential…
Influence of the pyrazine substituent on the structure and magnetic properties of dicyanamide-bridged cobalt(ii) complexes.
2019
Substituted pyrazines were successfully used to prepare two new coordination polymers of formulas {[Co(dca)2(NH2pyz)2]·H2O}n (1) and [Co3(dca)6(HOpyz)5(H2O)2]n (2) [dca = dicyanamide, NH2pyz = 2-aminopyrazine and HOpyz = 2-hydroxypyrazine] whose structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The structure of 1 consists of a two-dimensional rhombus grid of cobalt(II) ions where the dca ligand adopts the μ1,5 bridging mode with trans-positioned monodentate NH2pyz molecules completing the six-coordination around each metal ion. Compound 2 exhibits a stair-like two-dimensional structure where the intralayer connections are performed by the dca and HOpyz groups exhibiting μ1…
