Naphthalenophane durch doppelte Photocyclodimerisierung von Distyrylnaphthalinen
1989
ChemInform Abstract: Concave π-Prismand Hydrocarbon [2.2.2]Cyclophanes and Their Crystalline Ag-Triflate Complexes.
2010
New small concave hydrocarbon cyclophanes were prepared via the well-known HD-2SO2-method. The cyclophanes obtained are isomers of the very well-known [2.2.2]p,p,p-cyclophane, C24H24, a π-prismand efficiently complexing Ag+-ion. X-ray crystal structure determinations showed the bis-sulfide 7 (1,10-dithia[3.3.2]m,p,p-cyclophane) to be helically chiral and that the conformation of the parent hydrocarbon cyclophane 13 ([2.2.2]m,p,p-cyclophane) does not change dramatically upon complexation with the Ag+-ion. The 16- and 17-membered [2.2.2]m,m,p- and [2.2.2]m,p,p-cyclophane (15 and 16) also act as π-prismands and form surprisingly similar crystalline 1:1 Ag-triflate complexes (π-prismates) as th…
Structural characterization in solution of multifunctional nucleotide coordination systems
2000
The interaction in aqueous solution of the cyclophane receptors 2,6,10,13,17,21-hexaaza[22]orthocyclophane (L11) and 2,6,10,13,17,21-hexaaza[22]paracyclophane (L22) with the nucleotides ATP, ADP and AMP has been studied by pH titration and NMR. The obtained results are compared with those previously reported for the analogous meta-substituted receptor 2,6,10,13,17,21-hexaaza[22]metacyclophane (L). All the experimental data support the actuation of these cyclophane molecules as multi-point binders of nucleotides through electrostatic, hydrogen bonding and π-stacking interactions. The combined use of NMR and molecular dynamics permits us to get a rather reliable picture of the way in which th…
Steady-state fluorescence emission studies on polyazacyclophane macrocyclic receptors and on their adducts with hexacyanocobaltate(III)
1995
The steady-state fluorescence emission spectra of the azacyclophanes 2,5,8,11-tetraaza[12] paracyclophane (L1), 2,6,9,13-tetraaza[14]paracyclophane (L2), 14,15,17,18-tetramethyl-2,5,8,11-tetraaza[12]paracyclophane (L3) and 16,17,19,20-tetramethyl-2,6,9,13-tetraaza[14]paracyclophane (L4) as a function of pH have been measured. The fully protonated species of each cyclophane gives the highest fluorescence-emission quantum yield. The shapes of the titration curves have been explained by the existence of an electron-transfer quenching effect from a non-protonated amine to the benzene chromophore. This effect is greater for macrocycles in which the first deprotonated amine group is closer to the…
Synthesis and photodimerisation of tetrabenzo[ab,f,jk,o][18]annulenes
1999
Abstract The tetrabenzo[ab,f,jk,o][18]annulenes 7a,b, generated in a 5-step synthesis, show photodimerisation and -oligomerisation reactions in the solid state and in solution. The state of aggregation determines the reaction route. Whereas the cyclodimer 8a has a simple cyclobutane structure, the dimer 8b is a highly symmetrical cyclophane.

Calix[4]arenes bridged at the lower rim
1990
Calix[41 arenes, in which two opposite p-positions are linked by an aliphatic chain, and their derivatives show transport or complexation properties strongly dependent on the length of this chain. Bicyclo-calix[4]arenes, a special case of 1,3-bridged calix[41 arenes, and annelated calix[41 arenes, a special case of 1 ,&bridged calix [4] arenes, are also described. Although the preferred conformation of calix[4]arenes is the coneconformation due to its stabilization by a cyclic array of hydrogen bonds between the phenolic hydroxyl goups, these molecules are flexible, with a cone to cone inversion rate of about 150 8-1 for a calix[glarene at 47OC (ref. 1). The cone (or any other) conformation…
Electrochemical determination of the stability of complexes formed by proton-ionizable ligands of 3,5-disubstituted 1H-pyrazole with phenethylamine
1999
The application of two extreme models for diffusion in two-component systems to electrochemically determine equilibrium constants is discussed. The application of cyclic voltammetric, diferential pulse and rotating-disc electrode voltammetric data to elucidate the stoichiometry and formation constant of complex species by applying a generalization of the molar-ratio method is described. Molar-ratio experiments permit the distinction between the limiting diffusive regimes. The values of the equilibrium stability constants for complexation of phenethylamine and phenethylammonium ions by a 26-membered dioxotetraester crown of 3,5-disubstituted 1H-pyrazole as free ligand 1[L] and as dipyrazolat…

Synthesis, crystallographic and electrochemical study of ethynyl[2.2]paracyclophane derived cobalt metallatetrahedranes
2012
Abstract A series of alkynyl cobalt complexes [Co2(μ-η2-HCC–PCP)(CO)6−nLn] [n = 0 (2); n = 2, L2 = dppa (3), dppm (4), dcpm (6), 2 P(OPh)3 (7)] and [Co2(CO)4L2]2(μ-η2:μ-η2-HCC–PCP–CCH)] (L2 = dppm (8), dcpm (9); (PCP = [2.2]paracyclophane) has been prepared and characterized. The molecular structures of 3 and 4, as well as that of [Co2(CO)4(μ-CO)2(μ2-dcpm)] (5), have been determined by X-ray diffraction. Electrochemical studies (Cyclic Voltammetry, Rotating Disk Electrode) and luminescence spectroscopy have been used to evaluate the extent of the electronic communication through the PCP motif using the “Co2C2” centres as a probe. No electronic coupling between the Co2(CO)n centres via the b…
