Recently, several papers were published dealing with host plant identification for selected species of insects, including beetles. These studies took advantage of the DNA barcoding approach and generally showed that it is possible to identify diet composition from plant DNA present in insect guts. However, none of these studies considered how the impact of environmental conditions affected the likelihood of insect feeding and, therefore, the presence of host plant DNA that could be amplified and sequenced. The Spanish language, which is spoken by 463 million native speakers around the world, represents a major source of loan-words. The vast majority of loan-words from Spanish come from previous centuries when Spanish shone as a language of international communication, which is not the case to¬day. The main aim of this article is to describe how translations from French to Czech developed after 1989. The year 1989 (Velvet revolution) symbolizes a significant change in the history of Czechoslovakia, as the country left the communist block and became an independent democratic State. In this article the author tries to answer the question how this political change affected the publishing of French literature in the Czech Republic.

The initial part of the article presents a brief history of Czech people in Polish Zelów as well as characteristics of this group of residents. The main part concerns description of names of descendants of Czech residents of Zelów. Material for analysis comes from tombstone inscriptions of the cemetery of the Evangelical-Reformed parish in Zelów. Authoress emphasizes that on the one hand anthroponyms reflect history, culture, and realities of life and on the other hand contacts with other nations. In this regard, she indicates those elements that attest to Czech continuum and characteristics of the phenomenon of linguistic and cultural assimilation of this group of Zelów’s residents.

The International Comparable Corpus: Challenges in building multilingual spoken and written comparable corpora

This paper reports on the efforts of twelve national teams in building the International Comparable Corpus (ICC; https://korpus.cz/icc) that will contain highly comparable datasets of spoken, written and electronic registers. The languages currently covered are Czech, Finnish, French, German, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Slovak, Swedish and, more recently, Chinese, as well as English, which is considered to be the pivot language. The goal of the project is to provide much-needed data for contrastive corpus-based linguistics. Summary Aim To conduct a multi-language translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the Intermittent and Constant OsteoArthritis Pain (ICOAP) questionnaire for hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA). Microprojects are an important part of Interreg programmes. This article presents areas of cooperation and categories of actors who have been active in submitting and implementing these microprojects in the Czech-Polish borderland. It identifies 11 thematic areas of microprojects, which mainly support people-to-people projects in the field of culture. The most active microproject actors are local govern-ments, while the participation of non-public sector actors has generally rather stagnated since 2004.
