Las mujeres españolas en la Resistencia francesa

1996

Valence Topological Charge-Transfer Indices for Dipole Moments

2003

Valence topological charge-transfer (CT) indices are applied to the calculation of dipole moments. The dipole moments calculated by algebraic and vector semisums of the CT indices are defined. The combination of the CT indices allows the estimation of the dipole moments. The model is generalized for molecules with heteroatoms. The ability of the indices for the description of the molecular charge distribution is established by comparing them with the dipole moment of the valence-isoelectronic series of benzene and styrene. Two CT indices, μ v e c (vector semisum of vertex-pair dipole moments) and μ V v e c (valence μ v e c ) are proposed. μ v e c and μ V v e c are important for the predicti…

Color Stabilization of Apulian Red Wines through the Sequential Inoculation of Starmerella bacillaris and Saccharomyces cerevisiae

2021

Mixed fermentation using Starmerella bacillaris and Saccharomyces cerevisiae has gained attention in recent years due to their ability to modulate the qualitative parameters of enological interest, such as the color intensity and stability of wine. In this study, three of the most important red Apulian varieties were fermented through two pure inoculations of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains or the sequential inoculation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae after 48 h from Starmerella bacillaris. The evolution of anthocyanin profiles and chromatic characteristics were determined in the produced wines at draining off and after 18 months of bottle aging in order to assess the impact of the different f…

Modular Breath Analyzer (MBA): Introduction of a Breath Analyzer Platform Based on an Innovative and Unique, Modular eNose Concept for Breath Diagnos…

2021

Exhaled breath analysis for early disease detection may provide a convenient method for painless and non-invasive diagnosis. In this work, a novel, compact and easy-to-use breath analyzer platform with a modular sensing chamber and direct breath sampling unit is presented. The developed analyzer system comprises a compact, low volume, temperature-controlled sensing chamber in three modules that can host any type of resistive gas sensor arrays. Furthermore, in this study three modular breath analyzers are explicitly tested for reproducibility in a real-life breath analysis experiment with several calibration transfer (CT) techniques using transfer samples from the experiment. The experiment …

Significant in vivo anti-inflammatory activity of Pytren4Q-Mn a superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) mimetic scorpiand-like Mn (II) complex.

2015

Background The clinical use of purified SOD enzymes has strong limitations due to their large molecular size, high production cost and immunogenicity. These limitations could be compensated by using instead synthetic SOD mimetic compounds of low molecular weight. Background/Methodology We have recently reported that two SOD mimetic compounds, the MnII complexes of the polyamines Pytren2Q and Pytren4Q, displayed high antioxidant activity in bacteria and yeast. Since frequently molecules with antioxidant properties or free-radical scavengers also have anti-inflammatory properties we have assessed the anti-inflammatory potential of Pytren2Q and Pytren4Q MnII complexes, in cultured macrophages …

Device-to-device communication for LTE-advanced network system

2014

Device-to-device (D2D) communication has been proposed as a mean for local connections in future ellular networks in order to provide improved throughput, spectrum savings, and longer battery lives. Here we widen the investigations of D2D communication to a 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) system simulated in the interference limited macro-cellular environment, in which D2D communication is applied with D2D specific power control and resource allocation schemes and with a wide range of deployment ratios. Furthermore, we introduce channel model parameters applicable for a fair performance comparison between conventional cellular and D2D enhanced systems. The simulation results demonstrate that…

Dehydroepiandrosterone Induction of the Abcd2 and Abcd3 Genes encoding peroxisomal ABC Transporters

2003

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a peroxisome proliferator known to increase the expression of the genes encoding the peroxisomal s-oxidation enzymes in rodents. Using RT-PCR, we analysed the expression of the Abcd2 and Abcd3 genes encoding the peroxisomal ABC transporters ALDRP (ALD related protein) and PMP70 (70 kDa peroxisomal membrane protein) in primary cultures of rats hepatocytes treated with sulfated DHEA. We observed a time (12-72h) and dose (125-500μM) dependent increase in the expression of both genes.

Dopamine receptor 2 activation inhibits ovarian vascular endothelial growth factor secretion in vitro: implications for treatment of ovarian hypersti…

2013

Objective To ascertain whether vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) secretion by luteinized granulosa cells (GCs) is modulated by the dopaminergic system in a dose-dependent fashion and how this is related to the differential efficacy of dopamine receptor 2 (D2)-agonists (D2-ag) in preventing ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Design The relationship between the dopaminergic system and VEGF secretion in luteinized GCs was evaluated. Archived human ovaries were immunostained to characterize D2 expression. Setting University affiliated infertility center. Patient(s) Premenopausal women and egg donors. Intervention(s) Luteinized GCs were cultured with the D2-ag cabergoline. Human o…

The Spanish Inquisition established a systematic pattern of censorship in the sixteenth century; it maintai…

Towards a framework for New Service Development Practices

2017

Different frameworks for New Service Development (NSD) practices have been suggested by prior conceptual research. We have assessed three frameworks frequently referred to in extant research, and exposed how these three cover different dimensions of NSD practices. By exploring the practices of NSD empirically, this paper continues the ongoing discussion of what the relevant aggregated dimensions of NSD practices are. The detailed practices identified by interviewing 25 employees, all with key roles in relation to NSD in five large Scandinavian service firms, about their NSD practices, are clustered into three aggregated overarching dimensions of NSD practices: 1) identifying needs, 2) assur…
