1The effects of defoliation on male reproductive traits of plants have received little attention. We conducted two field experiments with Dactylorhiza maculata (L.) Soo to examine the effects of defoliation on both male and female reproductive traits. We removed 0, 50 or 100% of leaves prior to flowering. The quality of pollen was tested by transferring pollen from the differently treated plants to untreated plants of the same population. 2The non-defoliated plants did not differ from the defoliated plants in mass of pollinia. Reproduction of plants pollinated solely by flower-visiting animals depends on the ability of the population and each of its flowering member to attract pollinators. Factors affecting the pollination of nectarless species differ somewhat from those affecting the pollination of rewarding species due to the avoidance behaviour of pollinators after visiting empty flowers. El objetivo del presente estudio es presentar el diseno y la validacion de un cuestionario para conocer la opinion del alumnado de ensenanza secundaria de Torrellano (Alicante) sobre la Musica Festera y sus posibilidades de aplicacion en el aula de secundaria. La poblacion de referencia esta formada por 597 alumnos de musica distribuidos en cuatro cursos de ensenanza secundaria (1o, 2o, 3o y 4o). Si trabajamos con un nivel de confianza del 95% y un margen de error del 5%, el tamano que precisa la muestra de los alumnos para ser representativa de la poblacion de referencia es de 234. BACKGROUND Insecticide resistance in Trialeurodes vaporariorum W. is unknown in the species' northern distribution range where it inhabits mainly commercial greenhouses. Resistance development in whiteflies feeding on year-round crops in greenhouses is possible owing to the use of chemical treatments to back up biocontrol. The authors tested the response levels to spiromesifen, pymetrozine and imidacloprid in whiteflies collected from seven greenhouses within a 35 km radius in western Finland. De novo CCND2 mutations leading to stabilization of cyclin D2 cause megalencephaly-polymicrogyria-polydactyly-hydrocephalus syndrome

Activating mutations in genes encoding phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)-AKT pathway components cause megalencephaly-polymicrogyria-polydactyly-hydrocephalus syndrome (MPPH, OMIM 603387)(1-3). Here we report that individuals with MPPH lacking upstream PI3K-AKT pathway mutations carry de novo mutations in CCND2 (encoding cyclin D2) that are clustered around a residue that can be phosphorylated by glycogen synthase kinase 313 (GSK-3 beta)(4). Mutant CCND2 was resistant to proteasomal degradation in vitro compared to wild-type CCND2. Este trabajo de investigación es la continuación de otro en el que se evaluaron los conocimientos astronómicos de un grupo de estudiantes (17 años) que habían recibido una enseñanza habitual de la astronomía. Aquellos resultados del grupo control se completan ahora con los obtenidos con un nuevo grupo, que ha recibido una enseñanza enmarcada en el socio-constructivismo siguiendo un programa de actividades que puede consultarse en www.astrodidactica.com, y al que se le ha realizado un diseño de tipo pre-test y post-test.
