Design of friction connections in R.C. structures with hybrid steel-trussed concrete beams

In this work a feasibility study on the use of friction devices within beam-to-column joints of RC structures is conducted. The connection is made between RC columns cast in-situ and semi-prefabricated steel-concrete beams, named Hybrid Steel-Trussed-Concrete Beams (HSTCBs). Study of a Semi Active Electromagnetic Regenerative Suspension

The main objective of this work is the theoretical and numerical study of a device that allows recovering energy from an automobile suspension. In place of the viscous damper, which dissipates the kinetic energy of the vehicle due to rough roads or more marked obstacles, an electromagnetic damper performs the functions of the viscous shock absorber with a recovery of electric energy. The damper has permanent magnets and its working is based on the electromagnetic induction. Design of an electromagnetic regenerative shock absorber is proposed in this paper. In order to increase the efficiency of land vehicles the sources of energy losses have to be eliminated, or reduced. For this reason, several systems, recovering kinetic energy and converting it into electrical power, were studied and designed in the last years. In replacing the viscous damper which dissipates the kinetic energy of the vehicle due to rough roads or obstacles more marked an electromagnetic damper is used that performs the functions of the viscous damper allowing a recovery of electricity. The damper is of the electromagnetic type with permanent magnets and its operation is based on the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction. The mathematical model describes the operation of the damper restoring the values of the electrical and mechanical magnitudes as a function of the relative speed between the rod and the stator. Energy recovery has been estimated considering an electric minicar that transits on a bumpy road. The recovered power has a total value of about 250W.

Parameter tuning for nacelle-based passive structural control of a spar-type floating wind turbine

This paper deals with the modeling and parameter tuning of a spar-type floating wind turbine with a tuned mass damper (TMD) installed in nacelle. Firstly, a mathematical model for the system surge-heave-pitch motion is established based on first principles. Secondly, different parameter tuning methods are adopted to find the optimal TMD parameters for load reduction. Thirdly, nonlinear wind turbine simulations with different designs are conducted under different wind and wave conditions. Elements Design of the Equipment for the Closing of Shock Absorbers through the Rolling Method

The objective of this paper is the design of some elements of equipment for the closing of shock absorbers through the rolling method with a wide range of tank tube lengths and also of the functional structure of the equipment with the shifting/settlement of the damper in the sertization process. Closing damper device is intended by the deflection of the upper reservoir tube. In the paper, the author present his concerns regarding the study and design (parts CAD, the crimping devices) of this equipment which use this proposed technology [1, 2] for the crimping rolling method for shock absorbers reservoir cylinders.

MODELING TORQUE TRANSMISSIBILITY FOR AUTOMOTIVE DRY CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT

The dry clutch is a fundamental component in many automotive drivelines. For instance, the clutch torque transmissibility characteristic severely influences gearshift performance in automated manual transmissions. In this paper a novel model of the torque transmissibility of dry clutches is proposed. The dependence of the transmissibility characteristic on wear, slip speed and friction pads geometry and the influence of the diaphragm spring, the flat spring and the torsional damper springs is taken into account and pointed out. The sensitivity of a clutch engagement control scheme with respect to the clutch characteristic uncertainties is analyzed.

Probabilistic response of linear structures equipped with nonlinear dampers devices (PIS method)

Passive control introducing energy absorbing devices into the structure has received considerable attention in recent years. Unfortunately the constitutive law of viscous fluid dampers is highly nonlinear, and even supposing that the structure behaves linearly, the whole system has inherent nonlinear properties. Modified Landau levels, damped harmonic oscillator and two-dimensional pseudo-bosons

In a series of recent papers one of us has analyzed in some details a class of elementary excitations called {\em pseudo-bosons}. They arise from a special deformation of the canonical commutation relation $[a,a^\dagger]=\1$, which is replaced by $[a,b]=\1$, with $b$ not necessarily equal to $a^\dagger$. Here, after a two-dimensional extension of the general framework, we apply the theory to a generalized version of the two-dimensional Hamiltonian describing Landau levels. Moreover, for this system, we discuss coherent states and we deduce a resolution of the identity. We also consider a different class of examples arising from a classical system, i.e. a damped harmonic oscillator.

Non-stationary pre-envelope covariances of non-classically damped systems

Abstract A new formulation is given to evaluate the stationary and non-stationary response of linear non-classically damped systems subjected to multi-correlated non-separable Gaussian input processes. This formulation is based on a new and more suitable definition of the impulse response function matrix for such systems. It is shown that, when using this definition, the stochastic response of non-classically damped systems involves the evaluation of quantities similar to those of classically damped ones. Furthermore, considerations about non-stationary cross-covariances, spectral moments and pre-envelope cross-covariances are presented for a monocorrelated input process.
