NADPH Oxidase Accounts for Enhanced Superoxide Production and Impaired Endothelium-Dependent Smooth Muscle Relaxation in BKβ1 −/− Mice

Objective— Nitric oxide (NO)-induced vasorelaxation involves activation of large conductance Ca 2+ -activated K + channels (BK). A regulatory BKβ1 subunit confers Ca 2+ , voltage, and NO/cGMP sensitivity to the BK channel. We investigated whether endothelial function and NO/cGMP signaling is affected by a deletion of the β1-subunit. Histamine-sensitive adenylate cyclase of human gastric mucosa: a model for H2-receptor excitation.

Recent studies revealed that human gastric mucosa contains a histamine-sensitive adenylate cyclase which is almost completely localized within the acid-secreting area of the stomach. In an attempt to further characterize the effector system of histamine’s action, we compared the effects of H 1 — and H 2-receptor agonists upon the adenylate cyclase in human fundic gastric mucosa.

Calcifying odontogenic cyst : a 26-year retrospective clinicopathological analysis and immunohistochemical study

Background To identify the prevalence and clinicopathological profile of calcifying odontogenic cysts (COC) stored at an oral pathology service, and to analyze the immunoexpression of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and cyclin D1 (CD1) in these cysts. Material and methods After a retrospective analysis (1990-2016) carried out to identify cases of COC, a sample of 12 cases was selected for immunohistochemical analysis of COX-2 and CD1 by the immunoperoxidase technique. Is Myeloperoxidase a Key Component in the ROS-Induced Vascular Damage Related to Nephropathy in Type 2 Diabetes?

AbstractIt is still unclear whether microvascular complications of type 2 diabetes correlate with leukocyte-endothelium interactions and/or myeloperoxidase (MPO) levels. In the present study, we found that serum levels of glucose, the rate of ROS and MPO concentration were higher in type 2 diabetic patients. Patients with nephropathy (39.6%) presented higher MPO levels that correlate positively with the albumin/creatinine ratio (r=0.59, p<0.05).
