Long-term stability of early sudden gains in an acceptance and values-based intervention

Though previous research has extensively reported that sudden gains are associated with superior treatment results, research on the long-term effects and stability of sudden gains is not as consistent. The current study explored the long-term stability of early sudden gains (ESGs) observed in a brief acceptance and values-based intervention for depression provided by novice therapists. The participants were 56 volunteers diagnosed with major depressive disorder. Partiendo de datos etnográficos, este estudio explora la experiencia de miedo en Educación Física (EF) por medio de una perspectiva narrativa. Para analizar los datos y comunicar los resultados se utilizan prácticas analíticas creativas. El núcleo del artículo es una historia contada por Eva, una alumna que se enfrenta a un examen de EF. Su mirada evoca qué hace el miedo en diversos ambientes narrativos. La historia se presenta como un recurso para pensar con y sobre la experiencia del miedo en EF.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how professional auditors themselves perceive the impact of KAMs on audit quality and audit effectiveness. Miniature wireless photoplethysmography devices: integration in garments and test measurements

Wireless PPG devices were developed and embedded in everyday clothes (bandage, scarf, cycling glove and wrist strap) to monitor cardiovascular state of free-moving persons. The corresponding software for measurements also has been developed and tested in laboratory. Real-time measurements of PPG signals were taken in parallel with a professional ECG reference device, and high correlation was demonstrated.

Abstract Mirizzi syndrome (MS) is a common bile duct (CBD) obstruction caused by extrinsic compression from an impacted stone in the cystic duct or infundibulum of the gallbladder. Patients affected by MS may present abdominal pain and jaundice. A 37-year-old male with neurologic residuals post-encephalitis arrived at the emergency department reporting abdominal pain, jaundice and fever. An ultrasound of the abdomen identified cholecystolithiasis with a dilated CBD. He did not undergo CT or MRI due to poor compliance and parents’ disagreement. We report the case of a 73-year-old woman who was hospitalized for mild abdominal pain after her referral following a diagnostic assessment of acute lithiasic cholecystitis. After the spontaneus regression of her painful symptoms and fever and several days of well-being, her clinically acute abdominal features suddenly showed an obstruction of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Abstract Antimuscarinic therapy is the primary treatment for overactive bladder. Long-term persistence with the therapy can be problematical, and has been linked to both efficacy and tolerability. A number of specific contributory factors to poor persistence can be identified, such as adverse effects of medication, insufficient beneficial effects, inadequate follow-up after initiation of therapy (poor motivation), and unmet or unrealistic expectations (poor communication between the patient and physician).
