Micellar Liquid Chromatography: A Worthy Technique for the Determination of β-Antagonists in Urine Samples

Several beta-antagonists (acebutolol, atenolol, celiprolol, labetalol, metoprolol, nadolol, propranolol) were determined in urine samples with fluorometric detection after direct injection, in less than 15 min, with a micellar mobile phase of 0.1 M sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), 15% propanol, and 1% triethylamine at pH 3. The limits of detection (38 criterion) were usually between 3 and 30 ng/mL. The addition of propanol and triethylamine and the reduction of the pH of the mobile phase improved the efficiency of the chromatographic peaks that was rather low in pure micellar eluents. Es werden die Einflusse der Adsorption von Hochpolymeren aus den Losungen auf Lichtzerstreuungsmessungen untersucht. Zunachst wird die Adsorption aus Losung an Glaswolle und Glaspulver in verschiedenen Losungsmitteln gemessen. Es zeigt sich, das sowohl Konzentrationserniedrigung, bestimmt im Differentialrefraktometer, wie auch eine Abnahme des Molekulargewichtes, aus der Lichtzerstreuung bestimmt, infolge selektiver Adsorption auftreten. Beim Schutteln der Losungen tritt als weiterer Effekt ein Abbau der Kettenmolekule ein. Beim Filtrieren von Losungen nehmen durch Adsorption im Filter Konzentration und Molekulargewicht ab. Deaf readers benefit from lexical feedback during orthographic processing

Published: 23 August 2019 It has been proposed that poor reading abilities in deaf readers might be related to weak connections between the orthographic and lexical-semantic levels of processing. Here we used event related potentials (ERPs), known for their excellent time resolution, to examine whether lexical feedback modulates early orthographic processing. Twenty congenitally deaf readers made lexical decisions to target words and pseudowords. Background and Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate a potential association between previous childhood appendectomy, tube pathology, and female infertility. Methods: We reviewed patients seeking care at the fertility clinic of our university medical center between 2006 and 2016. The history of previous appendectomy was extracted from hospital documentation and by telephone follow-up. Tubal patency was assessed by diagnostic laparoscopy and chromopertubation. Results: In our study cohort (N = 237), 24.9% (n = 59) had a history of previous appendectomy. The literature has been relatively silent about post-conflict processes. However, understanding the way humans deal with post-conflict situations is a challenge in our societies. With this in mind, we focus the present study on the rationality of cooperative decision making after an intergroup conflict, i.e., the extent to which groups take advantage of post-conflict situations to obtain benefits from collaborating with the other group involved in the conflict. Based on dual-process theories of thinking and affect heuristic, we propose that intergroup conflict hinders the rationality of cooperative decision making.
