Structural and morphological investigation of a cobalt catalyst supported on alumina-baria: effects of redox treatments on the activity in the NO red…
2004
Abstract Temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO) have been used to study the various cobalt species formed in a cobalt catalyst (Co 1 wt.%) supported on alumina-baria, with composition Al2O3(80 wt.%)–BaO (20 wt.%). The catalyst was synthesized by incipient-wetness impregnation of the support with a water solution of cobalt acetylacetonate and calcined at 550 °C for 5 h. In order to investigate the structure and morphology of the sample, XRD, BET and SEM analyses were performed. Depending on the temperature and nature of pre-treatment (reductive or oxidative) different Co species (Co3O4, Co3+, surface Co2+, CoAl2O4) were formed. Activity tests in the…
Transport of high molecular mass lignin material in the receiving water system of a mechanical pulp mill
1998
High molecular mass material (HMM) of water samples collected from the receiving water system of a mechanical pulp mill was characterized applying cupric oxide oxidation combined with GC and HPLC analysis of the oxidation products. This qualitative method was used to follow the transport of organic HMM discharged by the mill. The interpretation of results was complicated by degradation reactions of HMM in the water system and the assimilation of HMM produced by the mill to natural humic compounds. The analytical data was subjected to the principal component analysis (PCA) to verify the results obtained.
On partially saturated formations of finite groups
2007
Various types of partially saturated formations and connections between them are considered. It is shown that partially saturated formations can be characterized as classes of finite groups with generalized central series. A theorem on the decomposition of an FG-module into a sum of two submodules with special properties is proved.Bibliography: 26 titles.
On the composition and decomposition of positive linear operators (VII)
2021
In the present paper we study the compositions of the piecewise linear interpolation operator S?n and the Beta-type operator B?n, namely An:= S?n ?B?n and Gn := B?n ? S?n. Voronovskaya type theorems for the operators An and Gn are proved, substantially improving some corresponding known results. The rate of convergence for the iterates of the operators Gn and An is considered. Some estimates of the differences between An, Gn, Bn and S?n, respectively, are given. Also, we study the behaviour of the operators An on the subspace of C[0,1] consisting of all polygonal functions with nodes {0, 1/2,..., n-1/n,1}. Finally, we propose to the readers a conjecture concerning the eigenvalues of the ope…

Biweights on Partial *-Algebras
2000
This chapter is devoted to the systematic investigation of biweights on partial *-algebras. These are a generalization of invariant positive sesquilinear forms that still allows a Gel’fand—Naĭmark—Segal (GNS) construction of representations. In Section 9.1, we apply this GNS construction for biweights and we obtain *-representations and cyclic vector representations of partial *-algebras, and we give some examples of biweights. Section 9.2 is devoted to the investigation of the Radon—Nikodým theorem and the Lebesgue decomposition theorem for biweights on partial *-algebras. In Section 9.3, we define regular and singular biweights on partial *-algebras and we characterize them with help of t…
Homological Projective Duality for Determinantal Varieties
2016
In this paper we prove Homological Projective Duality for crepant categorical resolutions of several classes of linear determinantal varieties. By this we mean varieties that are cut out by the minors of a given rank of a n x m matrix of linear forms on a given projective space. As applications, we obtain pairs of derived-equivalent Calabi-Yau manifolds, and address a question by A. Bondal asking whether the derived category of any smooth projective variety can be fully faithfully embedded in the derived category of a smooth Fano variety. Moreover we discuss the relation between rationality and categorical representability in codimension two for determinantal varieties.
Round-handle decomposition ofS2×S1
2007
A round-handle decomposition is associated with a non-singular Morse–Smale flow on 3-manifolds prime to S 2× S 1. This decomposition has been built only for the 3-sphere S 3. In this paper we obtain the round-handle decomposition of non-singular Morse–Smale flows on S 2× S 1, in order to get all the different fattened round handles in this manifold. Some of them include non-separating boundary components that induce the topology of the links of periodic orbits.
Relations among Gauge and Pettis integrals for cwk(X)-valued multifunctions
2019
The aim of this paper is to study relationships among "gauge integrals" (Henstock, Mc Shane, Birkhoff) and Pettis integral of multifunctions whose values are weakly compact and convex subsets of a general Banach space, not necessarily separable. For this purpose we prove the existence of variationally Henstock integrable selections for variationally Henstock integrable multifunctions. Using this and other known results concerning the existence of selections integrable in the same sense as the corresponding multifunctions, we obtain three decomposition theorems. As applications of such decompositions, we deduce characterizations of Henstock and ${\mathcal H}$ integrable multifunctions, toget…
Numerical Kodaira Dimension
2014
In this chapter we study, following [30] , the first properties of the Zariski decomposition of the cotangent bundle of a nonrational foliation. In particular, we shall give a detailed description of the negative part of that Zariski decomposition, and we shall obtain a detailed classification of foliations whose Zariski decomposition is reduced to its negative part (i.e. foliations of numerical Kodaira dimension 0). We shall also discuss the “singular” point of view adopted in [30].
