Oral myiasis: a case report in a child with cerebral palsy

This case report added Myiasis is a parasitic disease that affects humans and other vertebrates. A rare condition in humans, myiasis is a worldwide phenomenon, with a higher incidence being observed in tropical and subtropical regions. Oral myiasis is rarely observed in children, is uncommon in the oral cavity, more specifically periodontal tissue. This uncommon condition is more prevalent in tropical and subtropical American and others country where low socioeconomic conditions, residence in rural areas, mental deficiency and precarious hygiene conditions. This case reports a reality of a child with cerebral palsy in a Public Hospital in São Luis, Ma, Brasil.

Few epidemiological reports focus on the prevalence of stroke in the young population. As part of a neuroepidemiological survey on the total population of three Sicilian municipalities, we assessed the prevalence of stroke in the young, describing the clinical features of each patient. We screened 14,832 subjects younger than 40 years with a door-to-door method and a two-phase study design. Objective: To document the prevalence, age and gender distribution of oral lesions in HIV infected adults and the influence of highly active antiretroviral therapy and correlate them to the immune status of the patients. Materials and Methods: Oral lesions were diagnosed by a detailed physical examination by trained and calibrated examiners according to the case definitions established by the Oral HIV/AIDS research alliance. Abstract The pyrrolo[1,2- f ]phenanthridines 8 – 22 and the corresponding non-rigid analogues 23 – 41 were synthesised and their ability to inhibit the replication of HIV-1 was tested. Only the polycyclic derivatives 10 , 11 , and 13 showed a weak anti -HIV activity, whereas several pyrrolo-phenanthridines ( 8 , 10 , 16 – 18 ) were found to stimulate the multiplication of MT-4 cells at low concentrations. Derivative 10 demonstrated to possess the unique property of stimulating the multiplication of lymphocytes joined to HIV inhibition.

Abstract We report data about the relevance of the conformational heterogeneity in determining the optical properties of oxygen deficiency point defects in natural silica samples. The spectral profiles of the photoluminescence emissions at about 4.2 eV (α E band) and at about 3.15 eV (β band), and the efficiency of the intersystem-crossing mechanism connecting them appear modified by a fine tuning of the excitation energy within the B 2β absorption band.
