Flux of protons released by wild type and ferritin over-expressor tobacco plants : effect of phosphorus and iron nutrition

Abstract Tobacco ( Nicotiana tabacum ) plants over-expressing the iron storage protein ferritin, either in the cytoplasm or in the plastids, were grown under various P and Fe conditions. The crossed effects of both the genotypes and the environmental conditions on iron and chlorophyll concentrations in leaves, ferric reductase (EC 1.6.99.13) and plasmalemma H + -ATPase (EC 3.6.3.6) activities in roots, and fluxes of H + released by roots were determined. Lecithin-cholesterol-acyltransferase deficiency: autosomal recessive transmission in a large kindred.

Thirty-four members of a single Sardinian kindred with lecithin-cholesterol-acyltransferase deficiency have been studied. The kindred spans four generations and the parents of the two affected siblings are blood relatives. Segregation of the acyltransferase deficiency gene in the family clearly demonstrated an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance. Evidence for a direct interaction of Rev protein with nuclear envelop mRNA-translocation system.

The interaction of the Rev protein from human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) with the nucleocytoplasmic mRNA-transport system was investigated. In gel-shift assay, the recombinant Rev protein used in this study selectively bound to the Rev-responsive element (RRE) region of HIV-1 env-specific RNA. Nitrocellulose-filter-binding studies and Northern/Western-blotting experiments revealed an association constant of approximately 1 x 10(10) M-1. Background The present work is an audit of post-cesarean section morbidity in HIV-positive women in the tertiary teaching hospital La Fe, Valencia, Spain. Study design. Retrospective case-control study. Subjects.
