Abstract The paper examines the introduction of civic education in post-communist Romania as an educational means of civilising in a democratic ethos the children of the transition. Particularly close analytical attention is paid to a) the political context that shaped the decision to introduce civic education, b) the radical changes in both content and end purpose of civics brought about by educational policies adopted for accelerating the country’s efforts of integrating into the Euro-Atlantic structures (NATO and the European Union), and c) the actual consequences that these educational policies betting on civics have had on the civic values expressed by Romanian teenagers. Demokracja medialna w III RP jest nowoczesną formą demokracji, w której mass media wpływają w znaczącym stopniu na decyzje podejmowane przez obywateli. Ponadto obywatele realizują swoje prawa (jak np. wolność słowa, czy wolny dostęp do informacji) i mają możliwość angażowania się w życie polityczne kraju. W artykule przedstawiono pokrótce podejście Polaków do demokracji. Następnie opisano pojęcie demokracji medialnej i mediatyzację polityki. Końcowa część artykułu została poświęcona przybliżeniu wpływu sondaży oraz opinii publicznej na decyzje wyborcze obywateli.

A phenomenological research of democracy education in a Finnish primary-school

This phenomenological research examines democracy education and the conditions contributing to young students’ democratic agency. The dataset includes interview and observation data from a school and educational decision-makers. The findings from the iterative analysis highlight the contradictions between democracy education as an ideal and opportunities for democratic agency. Uzsākot pētījumu izvirzīta arī hipotēze: vietējo pašvaldību autonomija Latvijā ir samazinājusies. Darba teorētiskā daļā skaidrota vietējās autonomijas un vietējās demokrātijas nozīmē, aprakstīti decentralizācijas, subsidaritātes principi. The article discusses the issue of changes of the bases of legitimization for the state judiciary in the US during the so-called “Jacksonian Democracy”, i.e., the period from 1829 (the beginning of the presidency of Andrew Jackson) until the outbreak of the Civil War. During this period on the wave of the democratization process of public institutions in the US, popular elections were introduced to select judges at the state level. Questo contributo esamina, nella consolatio ad parentes che chiude il logos epitaphios, il modo in cui Pericle propone di superare il lutto che ha colpito alcuni padri nel primo anno di guerra, invitandoli in primo luogo a generare altri figli.
