Functional linear models for the analysis of similarity of waveforms

In seismology methods based on waveform similarity analysis are adopted to identify sequences of events characterized by similar fault mechanism and prop- agation pattern. Seismic waves can be considered as spatially interdependent three dimensional curves depending on time and the waveform similarity analysis can be configured as a functional clustering approach, on the basis of which the member- ship is assessed by the shape of the temporal patterns. Vidusskolēnu iesaistes skolā un depresijas pazīmju saistība

Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kā vidusskolēnu iesaiste skolā ir saistīta ar novērotajām depresijas pazīmēm. Pētījuma sekundārs mērķis bija izvērtēt, vai pastāv atšķirības starp iesaisti skolā un depresijas pazīmēm un to saistībām meiteņu un zēnu grupā, kā arī grupās ar dažādu depresijas pazīmju izpausmes intensitāti. Pētījumā piedalījās 126 skolēni, no tiem 71 meitene un 55 zēni, vecumā no 16 – 20 gadiem, kuri šobrīd mācās 10.-12. klasē. Papildus tam psiholoģisko veselību var ietekmēt studijas ārvalstīs, jo jaunieši, uzsākot studijas tālu no mājām, ne tikai nonāk jaunā vidē, bet arī svešā kultūrā un sastopās ar akadēmiskajām prasībām, kuras ir atšķirīgas no tiem pierastājām. Uztvertais sociālais atbalsts no draugiem un tuviniekiem var mīkstināt radušos grūtību un problēmu slogu. A Sub-Supersolution Approach for Robin Boundary Value Problems with Full Gradient Dependence

The paper investigates a nonlinear elliptic problem with a Robin boundary condition, which exhibits a convection term with full dependence on the solution and its gradient. A sub- supersolution approach is developed for this type of problems. The main result establishes the existence of a solution enclosed in the ordered interval formed by a sub-supersolution. The result is applied to find positive solutions.
Regular solutions for nonlinear elliptic equations, with convective terms, in Orlicz spaces

We establish some existence and regularity results to the Dirichlet problem, for a class of quasilinear elliptic equations involving a partial differential operator, depending on the gradient of the solution. Our results are formulated in the Orlicz-Sobolev spaces and under general growth conditions on the convection term. The sub- and supersolutions method is a key tool in the proof of the existence results.
On the Sub-Supersolution Approach for Dirichlet Problems driven by a (p(x), q(x))-Laplacian Operator with Convection Term

The method of sub and super-solution is applied to obtain existence and location of solutions to a quasilinear elliptic problem with variable exponent and Dirichlet boundary conditions involving a nonlinear term f depending on solution and on its gradient. Under a suitable growth condition on the convection term f, the existence of at least one solution satisfying a priori estimate is obtained.

Maģistra darba mērķis ir noskaidrot pašvaldības domes deputāta tiesisko statusu un to subjektīvo tiesību aizsardzības iespējas, ja, īstenojot deputāta pilnvaras, tā tiesības tiek aizskartas. Attiecīgais jautājums juridiskajā literatūrā līdz šim nav pētīts, taču tā aktualitāti apstiprina gan Satversmes tiesas, gan administratīvo tiesu prakse. Darba izstrādes procesā autore secināja, ka pašvaldības domes deputātam atsevišķos gadījumos piemīt subjektīvās publiskās tiesības, kuru aizsardzība ir iespējama administratīvajā tiesā. Location of solutions for quasi-linear elliptic equations with general gradient dependence

Existence and location of solutions to a Dirichlet problem driven by $(p,q)$-Laplacian and containing a (convection) term fully depending on the solution and its gradient are established through the method of subsolution-supersolution. Here we substantially improve the growth condition used in preceding works. The abstract theorem is applied to get a new result for existence of positive solutions with a priori estimates.
