ABSTRACTTo test the direct and moderator effects of the stressor–detachment model from a long-term perspective, we investigated whether workload and detachment are related to changes in exhaustion and sleep difficulties over one year. We also examined whether detachment attenuates the relationship between high workload and these outcomes both cross-sectionally and over time. Questionnaire data with 1722 respondents at Time 1 and 1182 respondents at Time 2 were collected. Abstract The IT revolution, now more than ever, offers a cheaper and faster way to collect, store, transmit and process data. Detailed microdata of dates of death, migration and birth are already becoming available for general populations. In this paper, we develop within the family of period-based estimators a new, assumption-free estimator for constructing life tables. The estimator proposed exploits all the detailed data available and is free of the theoretical inconsistencies that the estimators currently used by most official statistical agencies have. Two-dimensional filters for structured text

The paper introduces a method for defining filters for structured text. In the method, the text structure is originally defined by a grammar consisting of a set of productions. To describe the information interests, a two-dimensional template is first created interactively from the grammar to show the structure of a set of textual elements, at a chosen level of detail. The template depicts the hierarchical structure of the elements and indicates also optionality, alternatives, and iteration in the structure. In 2006 and 2009, trials were carried out in the Apulia region in Southern Italy to evalu-ate the possibility of mechanizing olive harvesting in groves of old and very large trees. The trees belonged to the cultivars ‘Cellina di Nardò’ and ‘Ogliarola Salentina’. They were 60-100 years old and 7-9 m tall with a canopy volume of 140-360 m3. In the first half of November 2006, with a mechanical beater mounted on a tractor plus hand-held pneumatic combs, the harvesting yield was close to 90% of the total olives present in the canopy, and the harvesting working productivity was around 60 kg of harvested olives h-1 worker-1. Shaping women's agency through temporality in "The life and activity of the holy and blessed teacher Syncletica"

The present article attempts to discuss the relationship between two female characters, Thecla and Syncletica, against the wider theoretical background of temporality as it was perceived and construed through literary texts. Syncletica is portrayed as a ‘disciple’ of Thecla. However, while the apocryphal Acts of Paul and Thecla appear to be pervaded with an eschatological expectation, the Life of Saint Syncletica shows signs of a different temporality. The detailed description of the whole life of Syncletica, with an emphasis on the course of illness, reveals a temporality more focused on the stages of life. Two centuries later, the legend Chopin-Sand continues to supply the collective imaginary with vague readings, where historical truthfulness, let alone musical truth, is often contingent on the literary. The much discussed and bellicose romance between the Polish composer and the French novelist, George Sand, tends to some reductionism and evades an obvious reality: Fryderyk Chopin meets George Sand when she was already the mother of two children. This circumstance suggests reformulating certain romantic stereotypes.
