Crowdfunding Models, Strategies, and Choices Between Them

2020

AbstractThe growing popularity of crowdfunding is manifested through the proliferation of thousands of platforms globally. The current chapter presents an elaborate, up-to-date, and detailed typology of crowdfunding models currently in use, as well as their main characteristics. Furthermore, it suggests some of the first frameworks developed for guiding prospective fundraisers in choosing between models. Each of the frameworks is designed for a different type of fundraiser, including model choice heuristics for organizations and consumers. The chapter concludes with some suggestions for further research and implications for practice.

What influences contribution behavior in Crowdfunding?

2018

Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2018 Crowdfunding has emerged as the popular medium of financing the project. It is the major source of potential capital. Many people are contributing to these types of crowdfunding projects. There is a research gap on crowdfunding which tries to identify why people contribute to certain projects and not in other projects. Research question for our research is factors influencing contribution behavior in crowdfunding. The primary aim of paper is to explore the relationship between various independent factors and contribution behavior. To explore the factors influencing contribution behavior this paper considers the academi…

Crowdfunding in the Cultural Industries

2020

AbstractCultural production has stood at the forefront of crowdfunding adoption representing some of the first crowdfunding campaigns on record. This development emerged as part of comprehensive value chain reconfigurations in the cultural sector, which were triggered by the advent of digitalization on the one hand and the downsizing in public funds on the other. As a result, the emerging phenomenon here labelled as ‘cultural crowdfunding’ (CCF) has captured the imagination of researchers and practitioners. The study of CCF is of high relevance, as it presses creators to strike a balance between the commercial and the non-commercial, the economic and the cultural outcomes, as well as the au…

Crowdfunding and Social Entrepreneurship: Spotlight on Intermediaries

2019

This study contributes to the literature by describing how crowdfunding platforms that host social entrepreneurship projects build and preserve legitimacy. We study three intermediaries, analyzing the actions they take to ensure that creators and funders perceive crowdfunding as a trustworthy form of alternative finance. This study shows that the legitimacy that funders ascribe to a project&rsquo

Reward-based crowdfunding campaigns: Informational value and access to venture capital

2018

We consider an entrepreneur who designs a reward-based crowdfunding campaign when the campaign provides a signal about the future demand for the product and subsequent venture capital is needed. We find that both the informativeness of the campaign and considerations related to gaining access to venture capital funding affect the entrepreneur’s choice of campaign instruments, as well as her decision of whether to run a campaign. In particular, entrepreneurs should launch the campaign either when it is highly informative or when it is not informative at all. For relatively low levels of informativeness, but not so low that the venture capitalist (VC) completely ignores the campaign outcome …

METODI DI STUDIO DELLA VARIABILITA’ DELLA FREQUENZA CARDIACA

2010

Reproduction of kinematics of cars involved in crash events using nonlinear autoregressive models

2012

Vehicle crashworthiness can be assessed by the variety of methods - the most common and direct one is a vehicle crash test. Visual inspection and obtained measurements, such as car acceleration, are used to examine impact severity of an occupant and overall car safety. However, those experiments are complex, time-consuming, and expensive. We propose a method to reproduce car kinematics during a collision using a feedforward neural network to estimate the system by use of nonlinear autoregressive (NAR) models. Specifically, feasibility of applying neural networks with an NAR model to the analysis of experimental data is explored by application to measurements of a vehicle crash test. This mo…

Investor Motivations in Investment-Based Crowdfunding

2017

International audience; We investigate determinants of investment decisions in investment-based (equity and real estate) crowdfunding, using a novel investment-, investor- and campaign-level database. We find that this market is a man’s world, with nearly 93% of investments made by men. We find that women invest less in the riskiest investments but more in safer ones. These findings are better explained by differences in risk aversion than differences in overconfidence between men and women. Investors located in an area considered more "sociable" (socially friendly) also invest more, but only if the investor is a woman. Overall, the findings contribute to our understanding of how investment…
