Evidence for strong immediate well-being effects of choral singing – With more enjoyment for women than for men

Choral singing as a leisure activity is associated with increased well-being effects. It is also known that women engage more often in singing activities than men do. The objective of the study was to investigate how emotional states vary on pre and post measurements of a regular choral rehearsal in groups of female and male choral singers. Participants were 212 individuals (women n=152, men n=60) from eleven choirs (amateur n=6, advanced n=5). Results showed that in accordance with the literature on emotions and gender, women reported significantly more positive emotional states than men did related to participating in a regular choral rehearsal. The analysis of the material collected from a variety of websites, blogs, comments, and demotivators showed that Russian winged words are present in the statements of Internet users. Differential Effects of Mindfulness-Based Intervention Programs at Work on Psychological Wellbeing and Work Engagement.

Two different mindfulness-based interventions were deployed in a sample of white-collar workers to explore the differential effects on different facets of mindfulness, dimensions of psychological wellbeing, work engagement, performance, and stress of a participant. A total of 28 participants completed one of the different programs, and their results were compared between groups and against 27 participants randomly allocated to a waiting list control group. Differential effects of workaholism and work engagement on the interference between life and work domains

This study analyzed the differences between workaholism and work engagement in relation to their influence on work–life interference. Workaholism is an addiction to work, characterized by obsessive attitude towards job, whereas work engagement concerns a positive pattern of thoughts and feelings about one’s job; these two constructs thus represent pathological and healthy forms of heavy work investment, respectively. A neutron diffraction (ND) and neutron tomography (NT) study of laminated ancient bronzes was performed at the ISIS (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK) neutron source and at the BENSC reactor (Hahn-Meitner Institut, Germany). The samples are part of an 8th century BC Etruscan collection discovered in the necropolises of Osteria-Poggio Mengarelli and Cavalupo in the Vulci area (Viterbo, Italy).
