Minimal varieties of algebras of exponential growth

2003

Abstract The exponent of a variety of algebras over a field of characteristic zero has been recently proved to be an integer. Through this scale we can now classify all minimal varieties of given exponent and of finite basic rank. As a consequence, we describe the corresponding T-ideals of the free algebra and we compute the asymptotics of the related codimension sequences, verifying in this setting some known conjectures. We also show that the number of these minimal varieties is finite for any given exponent. We finally point out some relations between the exponent of a variety and the Gelfand–Kirillov dimension of the corresponding relatively free algebras of finite rank.

On Codimension Growth of Finitely Generated Associative Algebras

1998

Abstract LetAbe a PI-algebra over a fieldF. We study the asymptotic behavior of the sequence of codimensionscn(A) ofA. We show that ifAis finitely generated overFthenInv(A)=limn→∞  c n (A) always exists and is an integer. We also obtain the following characterization of simple algebras:Ais finite dimensional central simple overFif and only ifInv(A)=dim=A.

Boundaries for algebras of analytic functions on function module Banach spaces

2013

We consider the uniform algebra of continuous and bounded functions that are analytic on the interior of the closed unit ball of a complex Banach function module X. We focus on norming subsets of , i.e., boundaries, for such algebra. In particular, if X is a dual complex Banach space whose centralizer is infinite-dimensional, then the intersection of all closed boundaries is empty. This also holds in case that X is an -sum of infinitely many Banach spaces and further, the torus is a boundary.

Strict u-ideals in Banach spaces

2009

We study strict u-ideals in Banach spaces. A Banach space X is a strict u-ideal in its bidual when the canonical decomposition X = X X ? is unconditional. We characterize Banach spaces which are strict u-ideals in their bidual and show that if X is a strict u-ideal in a Banach space Y then X contains c0. We also show that '1 is not a u-ideal.

Entire Functions of Bounded Type on Fréchet Spaces

1993

We show that holomorphic mappings of bounded type defined on Frechet spaces extend to the bidual. The relationship between holomorphic mappings of bounded type and of uniformly bounded type is discussed and some algebraic and topological properties of the space of all entire mappings of (uniformly) bounded type are proved, for example a holomorphic version of Schauder's theorem.

A note on banach partial *-algebras

2006

A Banach partial *-algebra is a locally convex partial *-algebra whose total space is a Banach space. A Banach partial *-algebra is said to be of type (B) if it possesses a generating family of multiplier spaces that are also Banach spaces. We describe the basic properties of such objects and display a number of examples, namely LP-like function spaces and spaces of operators on Hilbert scales.

A Riemann manifold structure of the spectra of weighted algebras of holomorphic functions

2009

[EN] In this paper we give general conditions on a countable family V of weights on an unbounded open set U in a complex Banach space X such that the weighted space HV (U) of holomorphic functions on U has a Frechet algebra structure. For such weights it is shown that the spectrum of HV(U) has a natural analytic manifold structure when X is a symmetrically regular Banach space, and in particular when X = C-n. Partial Hausdorff metric and Nadler’s fixed point theorem on partial metric spaces

2012

Abstract In this paper, we introduce the concept of a partial Hausdorff metric. We initiate study of fixed point theory for multi-valued mappings on partial metric space using the partial Hausdorff metric and prove an analogous to the well-known Nadlerʼs fixed point theorem. Moreover, we give a homotopy result as application of our main result.

Measure and dimension functions: measurability and densities

1997

During the past several years, new types of geometric measure and dimension have been introduced; the packing measure and dimension, see [Su], [Tr] and [TT1]. These notions are playing an increasingly prevalent role in various aspects of dynamics and measure theory. Packing measure is a sort of dual of Hausdorff measure in that it is defined in terms of packings rather than coverings. However, in contrast to Hausdorff measure, the usual definition of packing measure requires two limiting procedures, first the construction of a premeasure and then a second standard limiting process to obtain the measure. This makes packing measure somewhat delicate to deal with. The question arises as to whe…
