Perimeter symmetrization of some dynamic and stationary equations involving the Monge-Ampère operator

2017

We apply the perimeter symmetrization to a two-dimensional pseudo-parabolic dynamic problem associated to the Monge-Ampere operator as well as to the second order elliptic problem which arises after an implicit time discretization of the dynamical equation. Curiously, the dynamical problem corresponds to a third order operator but becomes a singular second order parabolic equation (involving the 3-Laplacian operator) in the class of radially symmetric convex functions. Using symmetrization techniques some quantitative comparison estimates and several qualitative properties of solutions are given.

More on the Dimensionality of the GHQ-12: Competitive Confirmatory Models

2019

The General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) was designed to measure minor psychiatric morbidity by assessing normal ‘healthy’ functioning and the appearance of new, distressing symptoms. Among its versions, the 12-item is one of the most used. GHQ-12’s validity and reliability have been extensively tested in samples from different populations. In the Spanish version, studies have come to different conclusions, of one, two, and three-factor structures. This research aims to present additional evidence on the factorial validity of the Spanish version of the GHQ-12, using competitive confirmatory models. Three samples of workers (N= 525, 414 and 540) were used to test a set of substantive models pr…

Identification of fatty acid binding proteins as markers associated with the initiation and/or progression of renal cell carcinoma

2005

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) representing the most common neoplasia of the kidney in Western countries is a histologic diverse disease with an often unpredictable course. The prognosis of RCC is worsened with the onset of metastasis, and the therapies currently available are of limited success for the treatment of metastatic RCC. Although gene expression analyses and other methods are promising tools clarifying and standardizing the pathological classification of RCC, novel innovative molecular markers for the diagnosis, prognosis, and for the monitoring of this disease during therapy as well as potential therapeutic targets are urgently needed. Using proteome-based strategies, a number of RC…

Mappings of finite distortion: Removable singularities for locally homeomorphic mappings

2004

Let f be a locally homeomorphic mapping of finite distortion in dimension larger than two. We show that when the distortion of f satisfies a certain subexponential integrability condition, small sets are removable. The smallness is measured by a weighted modulus.

Sivers asymmetry extracted in SIDIS at the hard scales of the Drell-Yan process at COMPASS

2017

Proton transverse-spin azimuthal asymmetries are extracted from the COMPASS 2010 semi-inclusive hadron measurements in deep inelastic muon-nucleon scattering in those four regions of the photon virtuality $Q^2$, which correspond to the four regions of the di-muon mass $\sqrt{Q^2}$ used in the ongoing analysis of the COMPASS Drell-Yan measurements. This allows for a future direct comparison of the nucleon transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions extracted from these two alternative measurements. Various two-dimensional kinematic dependences are presented for the azimuthal asymmetries induced by the Sivers transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution function. The inte…

Identification of protein IT of the intestinal cytoskeleton as a novel type I cytokeratin with unusual properties and expression patterns.

1990

A major cytoskeletal polypeptide (Mr approximately 46,000; protein IT) of human intestinal epithelium was characterized by biochemical and immunological methods. The polypeptide, which was identified as a specific and genuine mRNA product by translation in vitro, reacted, in immunoblotting after SDS-PAGE, only with one of numerous cytokeratin (CK) antisera tested but with none of many monoclonal CK antibodies. In vitro, it formed heterotypic complexes with the type II CK 8, as shown by blot binding assays and gel electrophoresis in 4 M urea, and these complexes assembled into intermediate filaments (IFs) under appropriate conditions. A chymotrypsin-resistant Mr approximately 38,000 core fra…
