International audience; Purpose: The temporal lobe, a critical hub for cognition, also plays a central role in the regulation of autonomic cardiovascular functions. Lesions in this area are usually associated with abnormalities in the regulation of heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP). The analysis of the heart rate variability (HRV) is useful to evaluate the cardiac parasympathetic nervous system activity. This study aims at comparing HRV changes occurring in two groups of patients suffering from Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE). The Influence of Natural and Model Forms of Humic Acids on the Dynamic Parameters of Model Membranes

Abstract In this paper the influence of humic acid concentrations extracted from Histosols (HA-A) and their model forms (HA-B) separated from humic substances commercially produced by Carl Roth GmbH + Co.KG on the dynamic properties of liposome membranes was determined. Differences in the quality of the humic acids (HA-A and HA-B) were determined by the 1HNMR and FTIR methods. Liposomes from the sonication of egg yolk lecithin (EYL) in an aqueous solution and synthetic Dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) were used. Characterization of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid oxidase from barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) seedlings and pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) needles

Abstract Biochemical characteristics of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) oxidase extracted from barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) leaves and pine ( Pinus sylvestris L.) needles were investigated. ACC oxidase from barley leaves was soluble while for complete recovery of ACC oxidase from pine needles addition of Triton X-100 to extraction medium was necessary. The enzyme required Fe 2+ , ascorbate and NaHCO 3 for maximum activity. A non-linear time course of ACC oxidase reaction indicated possible catalytic inactivation of the enzyme. The maximum activity was measured at pH 7.0–7.2 for ACC oxidase from both barley leaves and pine needles. The apparent K m for ACC was found to be 77 and …

Summary The diurnal courses of the contents of 1-aminocyclopropane carboxylic acid (ACC), its malonyl conjugate (MACC) and abscisic acid (ABA) in the two-year-old needles of damaged and undamaged spruce trees (Picea abies L.) were investigated. The contents of ACC and MACC were significantly higher in the needles of the damaged trees as compared with the undamaged ones. In the needles of the damaged spruce trees, the ACC and MACC contents, and ABA contents as well, fluctuated to a greater extent than those in the undamaged spruce trees during the day. The relationships between ACC-ABA and MACC-ACC contents as well are also discussed.
