Diskurssin analyysissa tutkitaan kieltä kontekstissa, eli miten kieltä käytetään ja mihin tarkoitukseen. Tämä tutkielma keskittyy suomalaisten valtamedioiden kielenkäyttöön ja erityisesti siihen, miten suomalaiset valtamediat kuvaavat suomalaista poliitikkoa Jussi Halla-ahoa. Tutkielmassa otettiin huomioon myös ulkomainen valtamedia vertaimella suomalaisia mediatekstejä venäläisen valtamedian englanninkieliseen mediatekstiin. Tutkimuskysymyksiä oli kaksi: 1. In this article, we examine the discursive practices of (de)stigmatizing right-wing populist party leaders. We draw on a recent example from Finland by examining how the female presidential candidate of a right-wing populist party was portrayed in the Finnish media during the 2018 presidential campaign season. We examine the stigmatization by the press media and the stigma-management tactics used by the presidential candidate to resist stigmatization. Impact of text availability and question format on reading comprehension processes

Abstract We conducted two experiments to analyze how text availability and question format affect readers’ processes and performance on measures of expository text reading comprehension. Junior high school students read expository texts and answered both multiple choice and open-ended questions on a computer that recorded reading times and readers’ actions with Read&Answer software. The results showed that readers reread prior text segments during initial reading of the text more often when they knew that the text would be unavailable when answering questions than when they knew that the text would be available. En este trabajo analizamos el encuadre informativo del Daño cerebral adquirido (DCA) en noticias publicadas en El País, El Mundo y La Vanguardia entre 2010 y 2013. Partiendo de una búsqueda léxica, se seleccionaron los textos que tematizaban el DCA, bien como tema central o secundario, y se analizaron las distintas categorías de encuadre discursivo. Lol is probably one of the most popular words in computer-mediated communication. It is generally taken to be the acronym of “laughing out loud”, but it is not always used to indicate a humorous response; rather, it is multifunctional. Drawing on previous studies of the different functions of lol, this paper explores a possible correlation between the position and function of non-lexicalized lol in the specific context of YouTube comments. The hypothesis is that the function of lol largely depends on its position: clause-initial lol is not used with the same functions as clause-final lol.
