Influence of surface roughness in hydrological response of semiarid catchments

Abstract Here, an investigation has been carried out in order to understand the influence of the surface roughness in the definition of the hydrological response of semiarid catchments. Following a previous study of one of the authors, a modified version of TOPMODEL is used, in which the convolution routing procedure has been extended to the hillslopes by specifying the routing velocity for each pixel of the watershed. These velocities have been linked to the watershed land use through the different surface roughness whose coefficients has been derived on the basis of Engman's table. In the context of intercultural online communication, certain dimensions of ICT we might call “figures sensibles” (Boutaud 2006) can be critically useful to understand co-construction, especially when these dimensions are also constitutive of an educational context. Thus, transparency, performance and conviviality help us interpret what can be called collaborative online interaction. Dispositive memory thrives on these dimensions and completes them. It explains in part the continuity of socially constructed identity of the community in question. It is the community aspect which in our context imposes itself despite cultural differences.
Choosing Who You Are: The Structure and Behavioral Effects of Revealed Identification Preferences

Differences in individuals’ social identity have recently been shown to explain differences in behavior. But where do differences in social identity come from? Theory claims that identification allows people to affect their social identity by choosing who they are. Accordingly, this paper treats social identity as a choice and analyzes its behavioral effects. We find identification to be systematically related to behavioral heterogeneity in group-specific social preferences. Intrinsic Hardy–Orlicz spaces of conformal mappings

We define a new type of Hardy-Orlicz spaces of conformal mappings on the unit disk where in place of the value |f(x)| we consider the intrinsic path distance between f(x) and f(0) in the image domain. We show that if the Orlicz function is doubling then these two spaces are actually the same, and we give an example when the intrinsic Hardy-Orlicz space is strictly smaller.
Uniform continuity of quasiconformal mappings and conformal deformations

We prove that quasiconformal maps onto domains satisfying a suitable growth condition on the quasihyperbolic metric are uniformly continuous even when both domains are equipped with internal metric. The improvement over previous results is that the internal metric can be used also in the image domain. We also extend this result for conformal deformations of the euclidean metric on the unit ball of R n \mathbb {R}^n .

The post-genomic era showed up a wide range of new challenging issues for the areas of knowledge discovery and intelligent information management. Among them, the discovery of complex pattern repetitions in string databases plays an important role, specifically in those contexts where even what are to be considered the interesting pattern classes is unknown. This paper provides a contribution in this precise setting, proposing a novel approach, based on disjunctive logic programming extended with several advanced features, for discovering interesting pattern classes from a given data set.
