Disertācijas pētijumu tēma ir veltīta Rēzeknes un Pernavas reģionālo stāvu nogulumu fāciju pētījumiem un to uzkrāšanās vides rekonstrukcijai Baltijā. Agrākie pētījumi šajā devona klastisko nogulumu slāņkopas daļā tika veltīti galvenokārt litoloģiskiem, mineraloģiskiem un stratigrāfiskiem pētījumiem, kā arī nogulumu sastāva pētījumiem baseina austrumdaļā. Detalizēti pētījumi ar mērķi rekonstruēt kopējo baseina attīstību līdz sim netika veikti. Tādēļ, Rēzeknes un Pērnavas reģionalo stavu slāņkopas veidošanas apstākļi bija maz zināmi, kā arī diskutabli. The mission and function of this thesis is to generally explore the ways in which philosophy studies and investigates films. More specifically its aim is to examine the theories of Stephen Mulhall and Stanley Cavell, on how films could be regarded as philosophic in nature through philosophy, that films could indeed be independently seen as philosophical excercises in action, film as philosophizing. My goal is to clarify the connection between these two cultural, human endeavours by also having a look at a theory of worldmaking by Nelson Goodman, on how aesthetical art worlds are created and abated. The societal contexts for sound and music computing: Research, education, industry, and socio-culture

Abstract The paper addresses the various contexts that determine the societal framework for research in the field of sound and music computing. Four of these contexts are identified, namely, the research context, the educational context, the industrial context and the socio-cultural context. For each context, the major trends are analysed and summarized as short statements, thus providing a background in which the state-of-the-art and the challenges of sound and music research can be situated.

Interstitial Telomeric-like Repeats (ITR) in Seed Plants as Assessed by Molecular Cytogenetic Techniques: A Review.

The discovery of telomeric repeats in interstitial regions of plant chromosomes (ITRs) through molecular cytogenetic techniques was achieved several decades ago. However, the information is scattered and has not been critically evaluated from an evolutionary perspective. Based on the analysis of currently available data, it is shown that ITRs are widespread in major evolutionary lineages sampled. However, their presence has been detected in only 45.6% of the analysed families, 26.7% of the sampled genera, and in 23.8% of the studied species. Pētījumā analizēta jūras piesārņojošo atkritumu monitoringa sistēma Latvijā un sniegti ieteikumi tās uzlabošanai, lai pēc iespējas efektīvāk sniegtu nepieciešamo informāciju jūras piesārņojošo atkritumu problēmas samazināšanai Baltijas jūras Latvijas piekrastē. Here, we described the synthesis of novel pyrazole-s-triazine derivatives via an easy one-pot procedure for the reaction of β-dicarbonyl compounds (ethylacetoacetate, 5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexadione or 1,3-cyclohexadionone) with N,N-dimethylformamide dimethylacetal, followed by addition of 2-hydrazinyl-4,6-disubstituted-s-triazine either in ethanol-acetic acid or neat acetic acid to afford a novel pyrazole and pyrazole-fused cycloalkanone systems. The synthetic protocol proved to be efficient, with a shorter reaction time and high chemical yield with broad substrates.
