Mikrofluidistiikka ja mikroelektroniset systeemit löytävät tiensä entistä useammin arkipäiväiseen elämään ja tutkimukseen. Vaikkakin hiilinanoputket ovat yksi tutkituimmista materiaaleista, niin lähestyimme asiaa käyttämällä hemiselluloosalla vesiliukoistettuja hiilinanoputkia. Tarkoituksena on tutkia tämän hiilinanoputki-hermiselluloosaliuoksen kuljetusta mikrofluidististen kanavien läpi. Lähestymistapamme on käyttää PDMS mikrokanavia, joita valmistimme eri halkaisijoilla. Muotit mikrokanavien valmistusta varten saimme Aalto yliopistosta. Päämäärää varten on valmistettava PDMS kanavia, suoritettava hydrofiilisyyskasittelyjä ja sonikaattorilla puhdistavia käsittelyjä. Among epigenetic factors leading to increased prevalence of juvenile neuropsychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, exposure to metals, such as lead (Pb) have led to conflicting results. The aim of the present study was to determine the levels of Pb in the urine of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) compared with typically developing children (TD) age- and sex-matched, and to analyze any association between core symptoms of ASD, special diets, supplements intake or prescription drugs and the concentration of Pb. Cryopreserved platelets: from in vitro thrombin generation potential to in vivo safety

Abstract Background: Cryopreservation of platelets (PLTs) at -80°C with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) can extend their shelf life up to 2 years. Cryopreserved PLTs (CRY-PLTs) are reported to have a greater in vivo hemostatic effect than liquid-stored PLTs. Patterning of supported gold monolayers via chemical lift-off lithography

The supported monolayer of Au that accompanies alkanethiolate molecules removed by polymer stamps during chemical lift-off lithography is a scarcely studied hybrid material. We show that these Au–alkanethiolate layers on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) are transparent, functional, hybrid interfaces that can be patterned over nanometer, micrometer, and millimeter length scales.
